I’m still deployed abroad and hoping to head home for Thanksgiving. Trying to plan ahead on some tweaks to my security system. As several of my cameras are connected to the POE via an extender and using port 3777 on the NVR, I can not connect to them directly. I have read several posts regarding plugging a laptop into a POE port which is a little difficult for me since my NVR is not in the most accessible location.
What I am wondering is if I could plug in a leftover Wifi router into the POE and connect the laptop to that Wi-Fi network? I know basic networking but not sure how the connection would be made: connect routers WAN or LAN port to POE, and what setting in router? Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.
