Color4K-X focusing too far - any suggestions for alternatives?

I bought two 3.6mm turrets. I love the image, but I need performance in the ~6 feet distance range, and these see really tuned to be 15 feet + which doesn't work for my use case.

Perhaps the varifocal 5842 8mp?

Or pop them open and manually adjust the focus to your needs.

It is simple and many have done it. Several threads here about it.

6 foot distance focus is going to be tough to find, so if you can't find one, that is an option.

The 5842 definitely can focus that close or closer. This was just a test to see how close I could get it but easily within a few feet.

But the 5842 isn't nearly as good as the 4K-X for low-light color. Still a good cam though. Not quite as good as the 5442 but close.

Looks like the penalty was DOF there Mike with only around 6 inches of usable focus. Good effort on the close focus though.

Yes, the closer the cam/focus, the less depth of field. Even at the longer end, the range for good focus is limited. e.g., If I focus on the far end, near focus is lost from about mid-pond. Once you get to greater distances that starts to improve.
