Hi,
I'm trying this software on i7-2600k and 8gb ram with:
-4 3mp
-2 5mp
-3 1080p
-7 720p
all these cameras are at 10fps with 99% of cpu.

Now I'm planning to buy a new pc with i7-6700 and 8gb ram, and I would like to increase the fps for all cameras at their maximum:
30 fps for 702p and 1080p
15fps for others.

Do you think my setup is adequate or excessive?

Thanks

@silvio Welcome to the forum. The 2600k is likely sufficient for your load. You must set your cameras to record direct to disk and also use a licensed version of blue iris as direct to disk does not work in the demo. Also enable hardware acceleration. The 6700 will certainly work with lots of room to spare.

I was having a similar issue with CPU load but with much beefier system. Just built a custom I7-6700K with 16 GB DDR 3733 memory and all my problem went away. I'm running 15, 4MP@20fps with only 40% CPU load. I would go with it and have your problems go away.

IMO, an i7-6700 offers the best performance experience. I just purchased such a machine and it is wonderful. However, unless one has specific requirements which necessitate running such a frame rate, I question the true need to run 30fps. In my opinion, 15fps is more than sufficient. At my office I run twenty (20) 2MP, 3MP, 4MP and 5MP IP cameras on a i7-3770 BI4 machine; I run most of them at 4fps and a few at 10fps...and the resulting video is fine. Of course your mileage may vary and some may want to run 30fps simpley because it's the highest frame rate available and provides the most life-like video...which I do understand...but I personally don't believe it's very often truly necessary.
