I never tried this before on my Dahua DH-SD42212S-HN (12x PTZ, 2MP, 1/3 inch CMOS) but tonight I experimented with the manual exposure settings.
Normal night mode, auto exposure. The nearby bright light on the snow is infrared from other cams.
Manual maxed out 1 second expore, max gain:
It looks like daytime, except noisy due to the excessive gain, and if there was anything moving in that pic it would look like a smudge on an oil painting. But it is still pretty cool that this cam can wash out the snow and see the color of the trees and this neighbor's house at 11 PM under the full moon.
