I have been installing some security cameras for a local business with multiple locations on and off for the last couple of years. They tend to move and add locations quite often, so they have a mixture of cameras. All newly installed cameras are IP cams, but they also have quite a few older analog cams. Anyway, they bought a CCTV tester last year that uses a V5-H lithium polymer battery, like this one:

The tester, for some reason, stopped recharging the battery not long after they got it. The on-screen charging indicator ALWAYS shows that it is charging, even when it is running on battery only. It will work when plugged in, but will not send POE power to IP cameras. That only works when it is running on battery power. I have managed to successfully charge the battery outside of the unit by taping the bare positive and negative wires from an AC adapter to the battery's contacts and then occasionally checking the battery's voltage output with a multi-meter to see if it is charged, but this is not ideal, and I'm afraid it will ruin the battery. Is there any other way to charge a battery like this without purchasing another tester?
