Plain stupid, the owner of the car has been informed, but I don't think he was too worried.

Yeah it is plain stupid as the Volvo will have reversing sensors and most probably on that age a camera as well.
The car owner should get his car checked. There can be underlying damage not obvious to the eye that can show up later and be expensive.
If he's come out of that without a broken front grill and bent bumper brackets as a minimum, I'd be surprised.
The Volvo driver wants reporting to the Police because if he gets away with it once, he'llprobably do it again (if he hasn't already done it in the past). He's committed offences as he's failed to stop after an accident and failed to exchange details within 24 hrs.
