capturing at 2 MP from a 4MP camera?

I have a DS-2CD2442 and was wondering if I will get better low-light (e.g. night-time indoors) performance and/or better image quality (assuming same bitrate) if I run it in 1920*1080 instead of 2688*1520.

Why don't you try it and see?

Your screen resolution, or image resolution has nothing to do with it.
Instead, it's physics, ie: how much light per pixel can be captured.

Or add some lighting, IR or visible.
