Hi, I got a Z4E and a couple other cameras hooked up to the AI NVR, but now when I go into the settings to try to edit my exposure settings nothing pops up. I've seen other people here access it through PSS and the web GUI of the NVR but mine just doesn't do it. Anyone know why is this happening and what can I do? and no I wouldn't be able to access the z4e web GUI since its directly hooked up to the NVR and has that nvr internal IP

Can't access it on my Dahua NVR either. Never tried as these are settings that I would do at the cameras GUI Level.. There is very limited things one can do in the NVR and best to make changes in the cameras when it comes to settings..
So no other way besides buying a poe switch to put it on the network? or is there other ways

There are a few ways.. If you are using your NVR that is POE NVR. then you can make a connection one of a couple of ways. First and best is using Edge in IE mode.. Then log into the NVRs IP WebUI... Then go to Remote device. This will list your connected devices. CLick on the e next to your camera if you use Chrome or Edge normal click on a camera you don't want to mess with first as it will try to load in 10080 and it is Blocked as a Bad Port.. Then click the one you want to mess with and it will load that camera on 10081 and you can log into WebUI for that camera..

Next and best really for access of Remote NVR as I have not looked at the new setup seeing I don't use it anymore and that is using Smart PSS lite. If you use that and you can access even using P2P to link to your device remotely. Now for me to access the camera using this. Isn't as easy. It puts out a port ID and other things. When you click on the e once in there I had to make a couple of changes to make it work but I can access POE connected devices using this method.. Again with new lite not sure what would be needed. So best way as I said before using Edge in IE mode...

Best practice is and continues to be accessing the camera GUI via a web browser and not within the NVR. That is the same whether it is old or brand new.

It appears you are trying to set camera settings in the NVR GUI and not the camera GUI. It also best to use Internet Explorer, Pale Moon, or Edge with IE tab.

To get into the camera GUI from the NVR, you need to first access the NVR GUI by going to a computer and opening up a browser (preferably Internet Explorer (yeah we know) but Pale Moon will work as well) and type in the IP address of the NVR and login that way. Next go into the camera settings page on the NVR and look for the Microsoft e Web Browser and select it and it will go to the camera GUI (photo credit bigredfish from his PSA thread). Your screen may look a little different to get into the camera gui and see if doing it this way gets you access to some other features the NVR is blocking - do not worry about the Port number and circle as that was from another issue someone posted.

The user/pw for the cameras should be the same as the NVR unless YOU changed the camera user/pw.

How to enable native Internet Explorer in Windows 10 and 11:
  • Open Notepad:
    • Copy then paste the single line of code below into Notepad:
    • CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application").Visible=true
    • Save as OpenIE.vbs
  • Make sure the the file name ends in .vbs not .txt, If it ends in .txt you must rename to .vbs
  • Create a shortcut to the above file and double-click it anytime you want native Internet Explorer.

^^^^^
This IF you’re local on the LAN

If he’s coming in remotely however, the NVR won’t allow you to access the camera gui (part of the inherent security of the virtual host)

If Remote, You will need to use a VPN (OpenVPN or WireGuard) that essentially puts you on the local LAN. Now both of the methods (SmartPSS, or direct via NVR) will allow you to open the camera web gui.
