Can I record clips on my local computer via webserver?

My setup is in my home. I can imagine many scenarios where I will need to save a video clip on a local computer (not in my home) to share, email, whatever. Can I do this on any computer via webserver?

You can hit the record button and record the video off the webserver but you will need to play it though. The most efficient way would be to remote into the machine and do it there.

OK, so I would have to use TightVNC or the like. There is no way through webserver to place a recording on your local drive. Correct?
