Good evening! I have two questions. I would like to thank you in advance for your time and any help you can provide.

1. Why I can't get a camera's time to update?
2. Why can't I get all my cameras (just three for now) to be in sync with NetTime?

I have been searching for the last three days and have not found any solutions.

My server has two NICs to keep the cameras off the internet. The cameras NTP are pointed to 198.168.55.10, which is the NIC the cameras are on.

For question one, why can't I update the time for a Color4K-T, 3.6mm? I tried clicking the "Manual Update" and "Refresh" buttons, with no luck in updating the time for Texas.

Current camera settings:

Then for my second question, my three cameras and NTP are showing four different times.

Does the NetTime log show the cameras connecting? Click View next to where it says Logging Level to see.

Not the end of the log but I don't see any cameras connecting to it there.

Did you allow port 123 through the firewall on the server?

Is W32Time also running on the server? Check Services under Task Manager and disable if so.

Here's a little utility that makes it easy to test NTP servers.

Agree with Mike, either a firewall issue or Windows is blocking the service. Nettime's info page says....

"
If you are using NetTime to act as a time server, you will need to disable the built in Time Service in Windows first. Although the description for the Windows Time Service indicates that disabling it may prevent other services from loading, I'm not currently aware of any such services that do actually require it. If you're not using NetTime as a time server, disabling the Windows Time Service is optional, but there shouldn't be any harm in disabling it to save a bit of RAM.

Thank y'all for your responses!

Here's the rest of the log:

Win32Time was running. I clicked the "Stop" button. Is clicking "Stop" the only thing I need to do to keep Win32Time from running again?

I'm going to try refresh the cameras now, I will keep you updated.

While you're messing with it, you might want to change the default servers that come set up in NetTime. I've been getting errors with the ones that have .nettime. in the address. I think that the reason for the failures in your log but that's separate from your cams getting time. You can change the top one to just pool.ntp.org. I usually spread things around from there... time.apple.com, time.google.com, time.clouldflare.com, etc. Search and you'll find lists.

Still no luck... Also,I don't know if it helps, but my NTP interval within the cameras are set to 1 until I can figure this out.

Maybe it's the port 123 through the firewall on the server as this is something I never messed with this. This would be very new to me - is there any kind of thread here on ipcamtalk or a YouTube video on how to do this?

Under Inbound Rules, click on new rule. Put in port 123, UDP, all both ways. Same for Outbound.

Also back in NetTime... For logging level, set it to verbose. I forgot that it may not show the cam connection attempts at the normal level.

For the port 123 through the firewall, is this correct so far?

First, here:

Then enter "123"here and click next? Sorry for all the questions, just do not want to screw things up!!

I have the following firewall rule set up with still no luck on the cameras' times being correct or NetTime logs showing the cameras. I also restarted the server/cameras after adding this rule.

Very frustrating as I'm sure I am the problem here... I will try to get it working tomorrow, hopefully. Again, thanks for all y'alls time and help this evening - it's very much appreciated!

Try using that utility that I pointed you to. Faster and easier than going into the cams. If that doesn't work, then they won't either.

If it does and the camera doesn't, then that tells you that it's something with the camera.

Sorry, I forgot to tell you to try that program from a machine other than your NTP server. You want to see if you can get through to the server from the network/cams.

Load it up on another machine. Point it to your NetTime server. Click Test like 5 or 6 times. On the server, open the NetTime log. You should see the connections from that machine at the bottom of the log.

Nothing unusual that I can think of as far as this goes for the Dahua cams.

I'm not a Windows or NetTime app user, but does NetTime's time server need to be bound to the camera network NIC to listen on that NIC instead of the main LAN NIC?

It was a long time ago that I set up mine, but I think I remember that the network adapters need to be set up as Private Network. It is worth a try. I also think that if you are using dual NICs , both need to be set up this way.

Also, don't forget to reboot for changes to take affect.
