Camera running really hot?

Hey guys, quick question

Recently installed the DH-IPC-HDW1531S and it's working fine, but it runs incredibly hot, uncomfortable to hold. I noticed it while adjusting angles. My camera is indoors only and no sunlight hits it. Granted it's about 80 something degrees ambient. Just wondering if this is normal? Manual says operating temps are -30° C ~ +60° C (-22° F ~ +140° F). My previous cameras never got close to these temps, warm to the touch sure, but never to the point you have to put it down like a hot cup of coffee. Has anyone else noticed really high operating temps as normal even though they are in range?
 
It does sound strange. First thing I'd suggest is measuring how much power it draws, if you have a way of doing that.
 
He means how many watts it is pulling, not the temperature. It would expect it under 10 watts.

Many of the "smart" or managed POE switches report watts drawn by each POE port on their POE management page.

I'm checking out a new HDW4231 and measured the case at 107 degrees, indoors, ambient about 75.

Ok it's not just me then.. My first experience with cameras like these (previous being Amazon rebranded stuff like Amcrest etc.) and was surprised how hot they ran. Thanks for the temps

Well, not quite. That's degrees F, not degrees C. :) 110°F is just comfortably warm. We cook steaks, sous-vide, at 131°F, which is about what comes out of our hot water taps. That's medium rare. For eggs, I like them at 145°F for an hour to an hour and a half:

110°F isn't too bad for an operating electronic gadget. Of course, the cooler the better for getting maximum life out of the electronics. But 110 doesn't worry me.
