I decided to start my Blue Iris NVR build with a Mac Pro I picked up a few years ago for $300. It has the fallowing Specs:

2 - 3.0Ghz Intel Xenon Processors
16 GB RAM
ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT
Apple Air wiifi card installed
three free PCIe 1.0 slots
two onboard 1Gb ethernet interfaces.

Cards and accessories bought for this project:
Intel E1G44ET 4 port 1Gb PCIe network card
SEDNA PCI Express (PCIe) SATA III (6G) SSD Adapter
4- 4TB WD purple drives (video to storage bays)
1- WD blue SSD (OS drive to PCIe slot)

Still waiting for some of the things to show up, Till then, Is there any improvements in this build that is needed for Blue Iris?

From reading some of the wiki and slowly working on my own (smaller desktop/server than yours) is the Radeon HD 2600 XT considered top of the line if you are going to use 12mp cameras (64?)as indicated in your other thread?
I'm ver much a novice on servers and IT. Just googled the Radeon HD 2600 XT so don't know the real word preformance. I think I've read Xenon processors work better if you incorporate a graphics card?

Anyway I like hearing how someones build does great things for them using BI. :thumb:
