Im considering just using the microSD slot in the camera instead of using a NVR. Does dahua make a software that i can view multiple cameras at once for monitoring purposes?

DMSS for phone and SmartPSS lite for computer.

But after about 3 cameras, you will want an NVR lol
can you use the dmss app without having a NVR.. just cameras only? Im trying to get it to work and its asking for a serial # of the camera.. which i have no idea what it is.. it was installed years ago and i doubt the little sticker is still readable, nor do i want to get on a ladder and take it down to get the number. You would think you could just add a camera manually.. (sorry first time using dmss) ive had dahua cameras for 10 years and always used BI

Yes you can use it with just the camera.

You should be able to find the serial number in the camera GUI.

You can add manually via IP, serial number, QR code, and I think one other method (been awhile lol).

Thank you for the help!!! I cant seem to find a way to add manually via IP.. but yea i can get the serial# via the GUI lol duh.. I guess i just wanted to stay as anonymous as possible as im just trying to get this figured out so when my sisters cameras show up i can get her setup.

well crap it lets me add the camera then acts like its loading and makes it to 98% then times out

*EDIT once i switched it from SD to HD it started working.. Im guessing since i dont have any substreams setup it wasnt connecting

Assume you’re in your phone? On your home WiFi on the phone?
Likely a crappy connection due to some device or your router not handling it well, or the P2P server your connecting to and the connection to it.

You should setup two profiles for each camera. One for home on your wifi (by IP/Domain) and one for remote using the serial number (P2P)

you already have the serial number “remote” connection added, so go back and add it again this time choose IP/Domain and enter the IP address of the camera.

When you’re home use that one. Call it “Home” so you can easily recognize it in the list

Hey and thanks for the reply! Im not sure i am 100% understanding what you are saying.. I have used the substreams for blueiris so i understand them. I have 2 pcs running BI one uses the substreams and one uses main stream. One PC isnt as powerful.. I like having 2 PCs pulling the feeds from my cams in case 1 goes down. BUT i just figured out why the substream wasnt working in DMSS.. I was using substream2 for BI.. when i turned on substream1 the DMSS app now works on HD and SD. I understand that will make the stream to the app much less bandwidth heavy.

Ive just always used BI so im now having to figuring out how to get the camera setup with tripwire/Intrusion/motion alerts/etc using the camera GUI. Ive always used OpenVPN on my phone and it is working fine through that and im getting alerts when i set it off.. So things are going pretty well. The GUI is a little confusing but i think im mostly getting it. Hopefully my sisters router has OpenVPN so i dont have to open any ports on her router.

Any tips and advice is much appreciated. After i get this figured out i may try and figure out how to get the camera to control the triggers in BI (i think thats possible, seems i read about it in the past but didnt mess with it)
