Best way to fast forward through hours of footage?

what did you end up using? just curious, I need something that could compile a couple of video footage's together in a single video

I used potplayer to fast forward through hours of footage quickly , for compiling video you will need something else.

Thanks for those of you looking for video compiling software look at Microsoft Expression Encoder 4, it's a pretty neat program

Looks like it's supported only up to Win 7. I also have used this program to combine/convert mp4 files.
