Best practice when setting up NVR

I'm configuring DS7108 with 4 bullet cameras. I noticed that the internal NVR address is 192.168.254.x my network is 192.168.1.x. the ones that are directly connected to the NVR picks up right away and no configuration is done.

What do you guys do? keep it the way it is or change the IP of the camera to your network address so it can be managed from a browser?

Keep it that way, it's more secure. If you want to manage via a browser then plug your computer into a spare PoE port.

You can't manage it via browser in that method without a few 'mods' anyways. If the 7100 series had virtual host u'd be fine. However it doesnt.
