I have 3 Dahua cameras (3841 and 5542 and 5849) I would like to replace them with much better cameras. I care about the best possible picture day and night with a good approximation and the best sensor possible. What would you recommend? The image from these cameras I have is of poor quality

Humm,, 3841, I could see you saying that it isn't the greatest picture that wouldn't be not that great.. But 5442 and what I know of the 5849 I am not sure what model of them you have but if the 5849 is the dual lens one only issue I might see with that is stitching issues.. But Yeah there could be something better, But I think if we seen what you are seeing as bad images from the 2 5xxx models might be able to point you into something that would fit your needs?

I mean main issue is trying to use a camera that wasn't designed for the area you are trying to use them?

I mean one of the best outside and inside the models you have now would be
Dahua IPC-HDW5849H-ASE-LED
Dahua IPC-T5449H-ASE-D2

But yeah if you have the dual 1/1,8 5849 only issue I know of is some having some stitching issues..

But if you had Dahua IPC-HDW5442T-ZE and asking for something better,, It would be hard to beat.. The 5449 that I mention above has better sensor and would be an upgrade..

Again would need to see what you are working with..

Very heavily dependent on the scene and target/distance/speed
  • 5442 series generally the best overall quality as far as versatility in various scenes
  • 5849 with the 1/1.2" sensor is impressive. You just have to understand and plan for the limited clear focus zone
  • The newer 3449 TIOC Pro models are pretty interesting. Best light pickup by far vs anything other than the 5849, but with some digital sensor noise. I've heard that the 8MP versions (3849 Pro) are good but lack of any real test video here tells me people aren't that proud of the real world image.

The T5449H-ASE-D2 mentioned is garbage IMHO. Great concept, bad implementation. Maybe why they aren't expanding that line.
I have one sitting here for the price of shipping for anyone who wants it.
