It will be covering the front and back doors. Will have other cams covering this area also. Would love to stay close to $100 per cam.

Been awhile since I had worked on this stuff. Figure if I am going to take the time to put this system up the two really cheap cams should get swapped out. I bought all the ones I have from Andy. I just looked at those exact cams.

Damn this stuff plucks the brain deciding on which route to go. 3 $100 cams or 2 $160 cams. More coverage with 3. Better cameras with 2.

Or get the 2 $160 cams now and a 3rd one later! But then @VorlonFrog swears by the 2431's....I know, not makin' any easier, right?
That's probably the best route to go. I may run the cable when I run the rest for the extra camera. Or just stick with 10 cams.

I have two 2431's in 2.8mm in my garage. They are ok, but I would not use them outside and hope to get great shots with them. Below are some stills from BI. I am moving in each of these, but not very quickly. With good light they are fine. Sometimes a little burry. Without light and on IR they are fairly typical.

Make sure you test each location BEFORE you run cable and mount the cams. As others have said, no need to get it all done at once. Planning and getting the best cam for each position will give you the best outcome possible.

I'm probably going to have to wing the placement locations. It's pretty much going to be 2 cams on each side looking towards the middle with 2 in the middle on the front and back long sides of the house to split the difference at the doorways.

Crazy decent cameras for under 100. With the pricing of stuff these days I paid $90 for dinner tonight for my family of 4.

I'll be picking up several of these for general overview to get my system upgraded. Thanks for the info.

Glad you could fund those, a 4MP with a really big sensor AND vari-focal....the trifecta! You should be very pleased with those from what I've heard.
I understand if it's more than you initially wanted to spend but you've probably already read this on IPCT : "Buy once, cry once", meaning no regret thinking later that you should have bought the better one even if it costs more.

:cool:Now having to pick a 2.8. 3.6, 4.0 etc. should not be an issue!

I predator hunt and bounced through thermals to get where I am now. I would have saved a ton of money buying it from the start. Thank you for your help.
