Backup Hikvision Firmware

Hi All,


Is it possible to retrieve firmware from a Hikvision camera?


The reason: I have 3x DS-2CD2532 cameras that are working great, I have just received a 4th. However last week I tried todo a firmware upgrade using the ivms software. It said success, then would not reboot. After using the hiktools TFTP update tool, I managed to gain access to the http gui page, but was only in Chinese (common problem from what I have read), following instructions on this forum I managed to enable ssh and telnet, login and change the language back to English by editing the IEfile.tar.gz. However now ivms will not connect to the camera, from what I have read, its a region problem.

If I'm on the wrong thought path, please correct me.

Follow the mtd hack to change the cameras to en/ml this will solve your issues

The firmware is spread across multiple partitions/blocks on flash. It is not a simple copy/paste operation to obtain the firmware. There is no software to automate this either.
