Advice for replacing Foscam NVR

I managed to brick my Foscam NVR by doing a firmware update, it stays at "Loading..." forever. The useless support just says I need to buy a new one since my is out of warranty, no options to debug or to try to fix just told to replace. After that experience I am not going to buy another Foscam NVR. I'd like to not replace all the cameras (FI9800XE) and I see that the Amcrest NV4108E-HS supports many camera types and hope that it is compatible with the 8 POE FI9800XE. The support at Foscam first said it supported ONVIF and would be compatible then said I needed to buy another Foscam NVR. A bit confused...

If the FI9800XE are truly ONVIF compliant then a Dahua or Hikvision NVR would be the way to go as you are future proofing for when those cameras go bang and you need to replace those :winktongue:

How are the cloud and mobile apps for the Hikvision? That's part of why I was looking at Amcrest because their apps seem to get ok reviews, am also hoping for decent support.

They are ok, Nothing amazing but do the job.. The best app I've used is the Blueiris mobile app... That only works if you have a Blueiris VMS, basically it's a PC software based equivalent of a NVR just 100% better.

Amcrest just uses a rebranded DMSS app from Dahua. I use a dahua nvr with dmss and a vpn and works really well. They made the pro version free for android.

Hi @clover5

Perhaps a PC based VMS like Blue Iris and a PoE switch would be a good option at this point.
