Adding NVR camera system

Hi all, I already have ADT (contract came with house) with simple door alarms, smoke detector and motion sensors in the house.

Id like to add a 4 camera NVR system outdoor that i can monitor from my smartphone (without monthly charges)

From my research it seems that hikvision is a solid choice but id like input as im new to this.

I would like a camera system that will hold up to NY weather (snow/rain and 100+ temps to 0 degrees).

Also would like the motion recording option.

Budget at about 1k (im flexible though)

1) cancel adt as soon as the contract is up...you can easily switch to a new provider at less than half the cost.
2) a hikvision system will be just fine.
There are lots of threads on various cameras etc...
