Anyone do this on security system by creating a utility zone using wire loop on feed to house to monitor if these feeds are cut?

For Honeywell systems if it's hard wired, that's why you use an EOL resistor. If the wire gets cut, the resistance changes causing a fault on that zone. Is this what you mean?

No, say someone wants to break into house and they scoped out your telephone and cable company feeds coming into house. Wouldn't it be nice to know if these lines are cut, verses loosing service. One zone on alarm system could be a 22 gauge wire running along these wires to just below the ground (mine is like that) and then it loops back up along same run, all going back to alarm system with 2k resistor.

1) if service is lost but zone not triggered then its service lost
2) if service is lost and zone is triggered then line was cut

You can technically do it, but the big push in the industry is redundancy with no longer using pots line but going ip and cellular. Either one can be set as primary with the other being secondary with no need to run extra loops. If either losses connection programming can be set to send instant notification.

If you don't mind, what system are you using?

using Honeywell vista, like you recommended, thanks.

I understand redundancy. But if you loose IP, wouldn't be great to know if your line was cut, whether you are sleeping or away?

In your vista programming, it has the line cut feature that will notify you if it lost signal on your comms.
