I have a Hikvision DS-7632N-E2/8P NVR running firmware V3.0.8 build 140825.

When I look at the configuration of the NVR using the browser Network Settings -> Port I see 3 port settings: HTTP port; RTSP port; and Server port. In order to access my NVR remotely, with a browser, means that I am using HTTP!

Do I need a firmware upgrade to get access to the HTTPS port? I am concerned that my access is not very secure!

I don't have HTTPS on v3.1.0 either, I believe v3.3.1+ have it though. I personally don't think HTTPS is really necessary though unless you're connecting to your NVR through public and/or unsecured networks.

Depending on what you need to remotely access your NVR for, you can just create another "user" which has limited permissions. The "operator" account is handy to allow viewing live stream and recordings without allowing changes to any system settings.

If you turn on HTTPS you will get a certificate error when you try to log in, no biggie.

It's much safer/secure to only open port 8000 and use iVMS to remote log in.

I'd be more worried of having the extra ports open than using HTTP instead of HTTPS to remote in.
