5MP 2592 x 1944p Bullet best settings for 24/7 recording. Currently an hour of recording is about 5-6gb (I cut my clips in 30mins)

Sorry. Is this advice for others to adhere to with your encoding settings. Or are you after guidance on correct optimal settings?

H264 vs H265 .. iirc also depends on the software you may use for alerts / triggers / AI - ML .. so want to check if there is a difference between those and what software you plan to use.

FPS .. many run at 15fps or even 8 fps to reduce load on system .. and storage space ..

Blue Iris .. also many like to set iFrame = fps ..

also try to maximize the capacity of your HDDs ..

Depends on what your goal is.
Without video its hard to say.

If the goal is to see how little HD space you can use, set it to 1024, 5fps, and VBR

Personally I aim for video quality, so 10240 bitrate, 30fps, CBR, H.264H, Std Codec (smart codec and h.265 OFF)
