I purchased a Loryta IPC-T5442TM-AS from @EMPIRETECANDY after reading all the great reviews from many people in this forum. The night shots are amazing however the day shots compared to my old camera look horrible.

I tried changing all the settings, reset camera to default, confirmed firmware is up to date and also reached out to Andy. Anyone have any ideas?

Hi, I'm a newbie and don't know alot, but I have the same cam bought from Andy.(It's not the Loryta label though), I'm also using Synology Surveillance Station. I was having a hard time getting the camera to run at 2688x1520 15FPS and 8192Bitrate. Sometimes it would be great and then I would change something in the Camera settings and it would switch to 10 or less FPS and ~1000 Bitrate. Nothing I could tell was causing it and it was near impossible to get the proper settings back. Logging directly into the Camera the image looked better than through SS. I wasn't sure if it was the Camera or SS since this camera isn't in their database.

Finally read on the Synology forums to set the Transport Protocol. On SS it was set to Auto. I switched it to UDP and instantly had the settings I wanted.

Not sure if that is applicable to Bue Iris.
 
What are your backlight settings? Try WDR at 30 and then adjust. I also lower gamma to 47 or so. I use WDR for day and then switch to HLC for night for my set up. If that doesn't help, post your picture and exposure settings. The light near noon is very harsh and the camera only has so much dynamic range. The backlight setting will help with that.

Yeah reduce WDR. If you turn it off I bet you see your color come back but at the expense of backlighting subjects.
 
Sometimes different angle will make the pic different, so down the WDR, adjust manually. I think it's not hardware problem, or else nightvision also blurry too.

Are you currently using the default settings for image adjustment? Try turning sharpness down. That picture is WAY over-sharpened, which is why there's all those garish lines, highlights and shadows. Might want to try turning saturation up a bit too.
Also, it's not a fair comparison with the old camera's photo being taken in cloudy weather, which is perfect lighting. I am curious as to what your old camera was, that's a pretty decent image.

I turned down the WDR and it still didn't look so good. I adjusted the gamma and it looks a little better now. I'm trying to figure out why the black pick up truck in the top left is so out of focus, yes I know it's only a 4 MP camera.

@shalem2014 it was not a fair competition, old camera was an 8 MP but 5442 still didn't look right.

I would make a guess that the OOF ( Out Of Focus ) top Left is the lens not sitting flush with the sensor so a quality control issue.

EDIT Your older camera looks like it has a 6mm lens where your new one has a 3.6mm

I feel like the camera is still out of focus. Pay attention to the large plant on the left side in my previous image above and below. Again I've messed around with all the settings for weeks now.

@EMPIRETECANDY is this a faulty camera, see @ljw2k post above.

Default settings improved the overall quality slightly but to me it still doesn't look perfect.

Other video settings are all default as well.

That looks better. Still a bit contrasty. Try bumping the gamma and saturation to 60, and the sharpness to 40. Make sure the defog function is off.

Yah, biggen's image looks like what you would expect. A bit soft in the corners, but generally sharp and in focus. @biggen just for fun do you have a 1:1 crop you could post of that upper left corner of the trees, and maybe that far right of those white houses?

Poor jd's images look more like those tree reflections in the water. :-(

I can certainly crop it, but it will look pretty bad when "blown up" so I'm not sure how helpful it will be. Those trees in my background appear to be MUCH further than the cars/houses in @jd415 image.

I will say that his image lacks color. It seems pretty bland.
