5 MP Cameras to non 5 MP DVR

Good Afternoon Colleagues
I hope you are doing good and safe . Can i connect the cameras DS-2CE76H0T-ITPF & DS-2CE16H0T-ITPF to DVR iDS-7116HQHI-M1/S(C) inspite of the fact that the cameras are 5MP and the DVR is not ?

If the DVR is not rated to handle 5MP, then no connecting to it will result in no signal error.

The DVR supports the below:
- 4 MP lite/1080p@15 fps; 720p/VGA/WD1/4CIF/CIF@25 fps (P)/30 fps (N)

The Camera supports the below:

- TVI: 5M@20fps, 4M@30fps, 4M@25fps, 1080p@30fps, 1080p@25fps

If the camera has a button on it that you can switch the MP you might stand a chance, but if it comes into the DVR native at 5MP and you need to change the resolution on the screen, then you will have trouble.

And downrezing a camera is never a good idea. You would be better off just buying a 2MP.
