Any ideas why the lower half (foreground) would be out of focus on a 6mm 4K-X? See attached grab

As an overview installed higher.

It is a known limitation of that combination (many threads here on it) and is more obvious in some fields of view. We typically don't recommend the 6mm version and for awhile Andy quit selling it.

To many here, this was when it was realized that 4MP is the sweet spot for these types of cameras given the technology they are all currently using.

Well, I guess it's a boat anchor then

Here is a shot from a T5442TM-AS in 6mm. This is a 4MP cam on a 1/1.8" sensor. Shot taken today. No focus issues. For me, 4MP is the highest pixel count I am willing to go to right now.

Why? That FOV having a little out of focus in the near foreground is not really a problem. What is going to be that close that would be an issue if it is a little out of focus?

Also, it is me or does the 1/1.2" sensor tend to lean towards the red end of the spectrum?
Adjust your color/sat levels if you need to remove some color out.

I run the 3.6mm 4K-X variant for overview of my business parking lot. It’s awesome as far as light collecting ability goes but I also have it mounted 30 feet in the air so there are no soft/unfocused spots at that distance.

With OCD, you will want to stay away from the 1/1.2" sensors LOL.

Between the tight area of focus circle that is evident even on the smaller focal lengths and the issues of some field of views need higher bitrates than the camera can handle, it will drive you nuts.

With a few exceptions of makes/models, the 1/1.2" shows that these cameras are not infinity focus, so with OCD, stay away LOL. Go with the 4MP 5442 series.

Your field of view is gonna be problematic.

All that grass and pavement with the higher clarity of that sensor means it is trying to resolve every granular angle, so if the bitrate can't keep up, it will be soft looking. And that certainly isn't helping the close up areas.

With certain colors of grass, yes it can give that weird saturation look. Mine does that too. You have to take some big swings at the saturation levels.

Yeah, 30 feet in the air in a residential area isn't going to happen ;)

I wasn't going to consider the 4K cameras, but since they do better at lower light levels, I figured I'd give them a try in 3 locations. I thought the 6mm would be perfect for the long shot of the road, but the focus doesn't work for me. So, I switched that location to a 3.6mm version. I still have a 3.6mm Turret 4K that I want to use in the front of the house, but that will be for another day. I also have the south facing camera which was planned for the 3.6mm 4K-X, but that is now where the 6mm was supposed to go. I also still have two T54IR-AS 3.6mm cameras which will likely be used for the driveway. Lots to do

So the WAF is ok with running the white LEDs on the camera? In other posts you said you don't have a lot of light. Or are you running as strictly overview with what light is available?

In the locations chosen, yes, she's ok with the light.

You got lucky there! Many don't want the light as it isn't aesthetic and draws attention to the camera LOL.

Take advantage of this to run a whole string of cameras to be symmetrical around the fence and house!
