I don't understand Amcrest's lineup of cameras. Most of their cameras, even the high res ones, use ~1/2.7-2.8" sensors which wouldn't be too great for night time applications. But I did a little more digging and found that their 4k camera with the biggest sensor (1/1.8") is an analog camera. Why?

Does Amcrest sell 4k POE cameras with 1/1.2" or even 1/1.8" sensors?

Amcrest is the consumer big box store version of Dahua OEM, so they put in smaller sensors and lower grade components to keep the price down for the unsuspecting consumer chasing MP.

Just buy a Dahua OEM on the proper MP/sensor ratio - it will work with Amcrest stuff provided it has the capability.

Hi @justinneed

This "4K" / 8MP Amcrest camera : Specs listed as a 1/1.8" sensor ..

FYI - note CCTV analog BNC camera .. not an IP PoE camera ..

Amcrest iirc had some larger sensor IP PoE cameras in the past, of their current available inventory I see the following camera ;

Amcrest may have some Amazon Prime Day deals .. in the past they've had some nice deals ..

note, most of the "4K" / 8MP IP PoE cameras Amcrest has listed were ones with 1/2.7" or 1/2.8" sensors .. so at the price they are currently charging, Andy is providing a better deal imho

My Amcrest in the garage has Sensor envy, with the Color4k running on the " test bench" looking at a similar view.
That Color4k makes the LED on the door opener motherboard look like a light bulb...also a Bug zapper is running with a blue light...otherwise it's dark enough to run IR for most cams...
