2CD2135F Firware upgrade

Hello, I have Hikvision 2CD2135F and it worked great until about 2 weeks ago. Its constantly restarting to factory default settings. I've identified the problem and it seems that hackers were attacking the camera because I searched the logs and saw strange IP address connected every time it resets. I see on this forum that this occurs on a massive scale. Now it has software version 5.3, and I want to upgrade it and see if this will help.

But my camera is from ebay, chinese version and I want to know if I can upgrade firmware to latest version without brick? Anyone has some steps to do so?

What are the letters in the serial no.?
I just upgraded to V5.5 and my cameras were from eBay but are "international versions"
 
I have some CN 2135 "hacked to English" cameras running 5.3.3 I've not rushed or risked the firmware upgrade until I have an ability to unbrick via serial console.

I'll let you know how I go after my serial unit arrives.
 
Its definite chinese since there is CN in serial number and seller mentioned that firmware is not upgradeable. I have version 5.3.6 now
