Hi, I bought a camera from china, model DS-2CD2032F-I.
The camera works (I understand by the LEDs on) and is recognized by IVMS 4200 but you can not access it and the camera does not record.
The firmware version is 4.0.8.
What can I do?

What's the firmware version on the box sticker?

Seems low for a new camera

Weird but I would check out the downgrade thread from whoslooking as this is for 5.3.0 cameras I would use that as a starting point.

It will probably require the use of Tftp to put it back to 5.3.0 then use the downgrader from the thread to make the interface english
 
4.0.8 means the camera is on recovery mode, it's not a firmware version. you need to tftp it. the thing is if the camera is chinese you need to find the right fw to make it come alive.

The firmware should be on the Chinese download site as long as it specifies the correct model.

The recovery makes sense now.

Tftp the correct 5.3.0 firmware on
Confirm camera working
Then use whoslookings downgrader

Should be all good
