I finally had my first hard drive crash (500 gb WD Black drive purchased in 2008). I was only getting 2-3 weeks of storage on it, so i want something bigger...

I have settled on the WD Purple, but one 8 TB drive is about the same cost as two 4 TB drives...

Would it be better to go with one large drive or the two small drives where "new clips" go to the first then move to the second for "storage"?

These drives will be used for BI clip storage only, everything else is on a SSD.

Thanks for the advice!

I personally don't see the need for moving clips. Put it all in New, and set it to delete based on size.
If you want some redundancy, split part your cams to one HD, the rest to the other.
