Suggestions for adding a network jack outside.

I suppose you could try running fiber optical through that conduit alongside the AC. Don't know if that is up to code but if done properly it's not inherently unsafe I think. If your conduit has sharp bends in it this won't work, fiber is not so bendy.

IR Works Better During The Rain?

In winter it simply gets darker during the night than in spring/summer, if you're sufficiently far from the equator. Look at the sky in those pictures. The difference is probably just due to that. If you go far enough north the sun doesn't even go down anymore for several months. On the poles...

YooSee SD-M5 doorbell: 1080p, PoE, RTSP, Onvif, only $66

I assume you have brought this up before but I can't remember, so: what is the problem you are having and what you are using to record? I'm recording my YooSee 24/7 with BI 5 without any trouble so I'm wondering what's keeping you from doing that.

Timeline playback for a single camera

Click the 'circled arrow' icon to the right of the timeline to get you out of 'Now' mode and into 'Replay' mode.

Timeline playback for a single camera

I understand all that, but it can do it just fine if you're playing back multiple camera's. There is no good technical reason to suddenly limit playback to a single BVR when a single camera is being replayed and there's also no good reason for this in terms of user interface design (and I'm...

Timeline playback for a single camera

Wow. Did not expect to get no reply whatsoever. Am I the only one who experiences this or finds it inconvenient? I'm on version 5.3.9.9 btw, see I forgot to mention that. Guess I'll have to write to Perspective to see what they have to say.

Timeline playback for a single camera

While using he Timeline in Replay mode I can click anywhere on the timeline and all camera's wil jump to that time. I can also scrub back and forth without any limitation, crossing clip boundaries is completely transparent. However, when I double-click a camera while in Timeline Replay mode (to...

    5.3.0 - July 9, 2020

Hi @bp2008 and @wittaj, Thanks for your replies. I guess the option to enable/disable substream recording is indeed simply not in my current version of BI as I suspected. Whenever I upgrade and find that option exists I'll be sure to enable it. I currently have the Substream set to...

    5.3.0 - July 9, 2020

I finally got around to setting up substreams and found the following comment in the Sub stream guide: I cannot find a 'Record dual-streams if available' option in my BI version 5.3.3.8. Is that option only available in an older or newer version of BI? Is this in any way related to the...

    Blue Iris & external triggers

I think you must use the json interface that BI provides if you want to automate logging in. That's what I ended up doing in my code (I wrote some software to connect my alarmsystem to BI to trigger cameras based on which of the alarmsystem's PIR detectors triggered an alarm). I use the json...

    Notification if car leaves

QR code reads: "Car of wife who never turns off the lights" If you don't want to do that to her car you could also put a QR code or whatever on the floor instead where she normally parks her car. :)

    Non-PoE indoor camera recommendation (UK)

They are usually a bit chunky. If It it's a single outletyou could also use an extension cord. If it's a dual outlet you can still do that but you might not be able to use the second outlet without causing interference. Not really, WPA2 is reasonably secure (especially with a good password)...

Dec 2020 - Comparison of RTSP Doorbells

    Parking lot door checkers again

Not all (street)lights are the same, he's just lucky to have streetlights that do not flicker with a frequency that interferes badly with his camera (with exposure set to 1/250). You are not so lucky apparently. Flicker is most apparent with LED based lights, although some LED lights use PWM...

    5.3.2.5 licence issue

But your license did not expire, did it? You're still running 5.2.6.5 so your license is fine. What you are not entitled to are new versions that were released after your support plan expired which makes total sense. Now I do think the update system should not allow you to update a new version...

YooSee SD-M5 doorbell: 1080p, PoE, RTSP, Onvif, only $66

Like I said I haven't really tried that myself. But are you listening through the YooSee mobile app? If so, try listening through the onvif stream instead.

YooSee SD-M5 doorbell: 1080p, PoE, RTSP, Onvif, only $66

You need to open the unit and adjust the optical focus as discussed previously in this thread. After you do that the image quality will be much, much better. FPS is indeed a bit of a problem, it drops to 5fps if it does not detect motion in a misguided attempt to reduce bandwidth. I asked...

Sell Custom Lengths of Cat 6?

$50 for what length? Unless you have strong sources of EMI (ElectroMagnetical Interference) near your cable there is usually no reason to use shielded cable. Certainly not for 100Base-T Ethernet connections which is all you're gonna get to your Dahua cams. Also, what sebastiantombs said.

Sell Custom Lengths of Cat 6?

Not sure what you read but CAT 5 cable itself can be outdoor rated just fine, even bulk. But if you crimp on a simple RJ-45 connector that connection by itself would not be outdoor rated. But didn't your Dahua cams come with those waterproof Ethernet connectors? That should take care of that.

Sell Custom Lengths of Cat 6?

Don't see anything wrong with those cheap plastic connectors but that $29 eBay cable is shielded. I was going to say you could indeed use indoor cable if there is no stretch exposed to the elements (sun, rain, fog, condensation) but apparently you have such a stretch so my advice remains to use...

Sell Custom Lengths of Cat 6?

This is a shop in the Netherlands so of no direct use to you but here's an example of an outdoor cable: https://www.goedkopermetschakelmateriaal.nl/belden-osp6u-utp-kabel-cat6-waterdicht-grondkabel-per-meter.html Not recommended for direct burial (you could but it would be better to run in...

Sell Custom Lengths of Cat 6?

So you'll need regular 'outdoor' rated cable, not (direct) burial. I'm guessing you won't have to run it in conduit either, unless you have critters there that like chewing up cables. If the eBay cables you have are shielded they should have RJ-45 connectors with metal on the outside. Note that...

Sell Custom Lengths of Cat 6?

Note that that cable is 26AWG. If you're going to use it with PoE I would prefer 23AWG or 24AWG, especially for longer distances.

Sell Custom Lengths of Cat 6?

It's quite possible that a website called CableWholesale only sells per spool (although a name like that doesn't have to mean anything). You're in the USA so I'll leave it to your fellow countrymen to recommend a decent supplier that sells by the foot, I only know the ones in the Netherlands...

Sell Custom Lengths of Cat 6?

You don't have to get an entire spool, you can buy bulk cable per meter/yard.
