SUNBA PoE+ PTZ Camera Outdoor, 36X Optical Zoom 5MP

Thanks for the pictures. I was surprised to see that their wasn’t a junction box between the pole mount and the camera. I have a 49225 that I want to mount to my pole but looking at the parts, I think I need a junction box to enclose all the connections. Maybe I don’t after all. Are your...

SUNBA PoE+ PTZ Camera Outdoor, 36X Optical Zoom 5MP

I would like a picture of your final mount when you’re done please. I got a 4” diameter steel pole 21’8” long and am trying to come up with what would be the best looking mount.

    terminating fiber help

We use Corning cam lock ends. The terminating kit is about 2 grand. The connectors are about 16 dollars a pop. The tester is about 10 grand. We don’t splice, we just put ends or repull fiber if needed. I think the equipment to splice is crazy high, but it is all pretty expensive.

Help setting up Blue Iris integration in Home Assistant

If you don’t see the history or logbook changing for the binary sensor, that would explain why the automation isn’t triggering. Why that isn’t working is the question.

Help setting up Blue Iris integration in Home Assistant

You use the call service node in node red to turn things on and off. You use current state to fetch if something is off or on or some other property you are looking for. You can use things like event state or inject nodes to kick of or trigger automations. You use debug to see what properties...

Help setting up Blue Iris integration in Home Assistant

Blueprints and built in automations have came a long way from when I first started. They have really put a lot of work into simplifying automations over the last year. Like I said, I prefer nodered as well, but I just know I struggled for a while. Rather than struggling trying to learn both...

Help setting up Blue Iris integration in Home Assistant

I also use nodered but wouldn’t recommend it to someone just starting to dabble in home assistant. Play around a few week and figure some stuff out, then if you want another steep learning curve, install nodered. Once you figure out states and debug node, anything is possible. Nodered is worth...

Toggle show state off just to the right a bit from where live was and idle will go away. You can also toggle off the name.

The gray box with the idle may be a setting on the Lovelace card you set up. I’ll post a screenshot in a minute.

Help setting up Blue Iris integration in Home Assistant

I don’t use blue iris so I can’t say for sure, but that should be possible. Their is an onvif integration that uses pullpoint subscriptions from the cameras. I currently am using frigate and it’s pretty awesome.

After you install it in hacs, restart home assistant. Then add it like you would any other integration. Hacs makes custom integrations show where you install native integrations. If this still isn’t clear, let me know and I’ll put up some screenshots.

    Day/Night mode best practice?

I don’t use a photocell or a lux sensor, but in node red their is a node called bigtimer. I use it to turn on and off my outside lights. I adjusted the offset on it until I got my lights turning on about 5 minutes before my cameras swapped to B/W. Now I also use the same timer to swap camera...

Most likely your computer is on a different subnet that can’t access that subnet. Your pc IP address has to be on the same. Generally for dahua and hikvision it’s 192.168.1.X

    Good LPR Camera Choice?

Not enough zoom on that one. Also you don’t need 8MP for license plates. This is the camera that seems popular for LPR. Amazon.com

Anyone used a USB 3.0 connected external Drive for Video storage?

I run an external 12Tb wd purple in a USB C enclosure. One bad thing is it has a momentary style power button on it so it doesn’t restart after a power outage. I set up a notification to let me know to restart it, and it fails over to local storage in the meantime. It’s still not ideal tho...

    Smallest/most discrete outdoor security camera?

I know you said you use Frigate which is awesome. Do you also use double take for person identification? I haven’t taken this step yet, but most likely will in my spare time. I run frigate in docker on a M1 Mac mini and seeing inference times between 10-20ms for 4- 1080P detect streams. I...

IPC-HDW5442TM-ASE and firmware updates? What's the difference?

I don’t have a clue, but my cameras never see an update either.

    Varifocal versus fixed cameras.

I have a few fixed cameras, but the focus on them never seems as good as varifocal. I know fixed lens options are around 30 bucks cheaper, but if a particular camera is offered in a varifocal, I can’t see myself buying a fixed lens version of it. I know everyone may have different opinions on...

IPC-HDW5442TM-ASE and firmware updates? What's the difference?

PN is for Pal. NP is for NTSC. NTSC is mainly for US. But I live in the US and run my cameras on PAL so it doesn’t really matter. With that said us the PN. Unless you are trying to fix an issue, it isn’t really advised to flash new firmware. There is a chance of messing up a working cam.
