    IR illumination questions and ideas

The problem is i don't want to run a power cable up to the top of this building. Hell running another cat6 cable could be insane. As i'm doing more research on splitters, another problem i see is that most of these IR illuminators are wanting 12v 2amps. POE splinters seem to be 12v 1amp...

    Cameras disconnecting

Hey guys, this started two weeks ago seemingly randomly. I've got 8 hikvision 3mp cameras of various types around an office. In the space of 2 days, 3 of the cameras stopped being seen by blue iris, getting a no signal error. I'm unable to reach them by IP address and they don't show up in SADP...

    IR illumination questions and ideas

Turns out on my current bullet cameras are exir types, with the current spider problem. That means I can try upgrading to some turret cameras and see if that helps, try to do the external IR solution (since i can't run another wire, and this is at the roof a decent size building i'd love not to...

    IR illumination questions and ideas

So a camera like this? http://www.ltsecurityinc.com/ip-network-bullet-camera-cmip9152.html or a turret like this one http://www.ltsecurityinc.com/ip-network-turret-camera-cmp3052-28.html

    IR illumination questions and ideas

Yeah i made sure to look for the 850NM illuminators. I have one turret camera and you are right, it doesn't suffer from the spider problems.

    IR illumination questions and ideas

First, thank you for taking the time to help me with this. Been researching how best to approach this problem for a bit now, feel i'm at least decently informed enough to to post. My problem is i've got two outdoor cameras the cover a parking lot, a fairly big parking lot. They are hikvision...

    Performance and general questions

Blue Iris is excluded, i've checked anything else that i can think of, that runs during the night like defragment but that is run once a week at the moment. The I frame stuff I read here when searching blue iris ghosting. http://www.cam-it.org/index.php?topic=8750.0...

    Performance and general questions

I thought changing to constant bitrate had solved the problem, as you can see the next day it worked beautifully However last night it decided not to work... I can't seem to figure out why as the problem seems to occur randomly, and almost always at night. Here are the settings on that...

    Performance and general questions

So its happening normally at night from what I gather and the issue looks like this: I can't seem to figure it out what setting is making it happen. From everything I look at it, seems to work fine during the day (i think)... and 99% of the recordings work without issues, but occasionally...

    Performance and general questions

I did indeed. And I just noticed it did it again. It catches the movement beautifully for a few seconds then suddenly stops... I thought at first it might be something with the camera as the imbedded time recording stopped with it... but when I check BI the recording also stops then jumps 10...

    Performance and general questions

Correct I was initially running at 20fps but went ahead and dropped down to 15 as many people seem to believe that is the sweet spot. When these hiccups were occuring it was at 20fps with the iframe set to 20. I went ahead and per your suggestion set it to 15 now. Changed to .7 now See it how...

    Performance and general questions

Yep went ahead and did that, but haven't had a crash since... The only real hiccup now seems to be occasionally, very infrequently, the camera recording seems to skip for about 8 to 10 seconds. I can't seem to figure it out, i know there is movement in between that time, and the cpu isn't be...

    Performance and general questions

Thanks for the feedback fender, so after some tweaking per your suggestions i've gotten the cpu usage to around 30% which is definitely tolerable. Been trying to figure out why BI crashed last night seemingly out of the blue, running a few diagnostic stuff now.

    Performance and general questions

Odd I changed all that, now the footage is choppy and movement is blurry. hmm bitrate issue? Now I have BI set to 20fps, and I read elsewhere that the cameras should be running at higher, is that correct? Should the I Frame match the cameras output, or match BI?

    Performance and general questions

Ok so gone to direct to disk, and using BVR as the container, 1080p, at 20fps... seeing the cpu usage drop in range to 30%-40%, which is great. Currently putting everything through the paces, I have noticed that there seems to be a lag/delay in the motion detection/recording, like someone going...

    Performance and general questions

Question, now when switching to direct to disk, does that mean I should change the format of the video files, aka keep it on blue iris or to mp4? Now it seems that if I switch it I won't be able to play back recordings, unless I change it to cut the files after each trigger, is there any...

    Performance and general questions

Thank you Fender reading over that now. Little bit of a bummer with the motion detection stuff, but I in the grand scheme of things I can't imagine BI's motion detection really stressing out the CPU to this point. I mean c'mon this is an overclocked i5, not that many cameras...

First off guys I really appreciate the help and expertise, another tip of the cap to Milkisbad... awesome cameras + great service. Background: I do IT work so i'm not totally clueless, just enough to be dangerous :). I got an opportunity to setup a security camera system at a fairly large...
