    VPN Primer for Noobs

You can block all internet access under "network map" and click on the client you want to block. But I made by mistake some rule under meny "firewall" that block all devices to reach internet when I only wanted to allow email for one device...

I still haven't managed to get the cameras to send only email. I want the photos. I have the gDMSS Plus app but because I don't have an NVR I can't get the photos from the app when an alarm is triggered. If I can get some help to configure the Asus router for email it would be appreciated. I...

    VPN Primer for Noobs

I am now thinking of buying the ASUS RT-N18U, to be able to use OpenVpn. But I read in another thread, which I don't find, that somebody recently occurred problems with OpenVpn on android. It had stopped working or if it was problems after an upgrade, some kind of issue anyway. So I just want to...

    VPN Primer for Noobs

@nayr ,I understand that intruders can, with port forwarding to your cameras, take over the cameras and then use your computer to attack other on the internet. How do they do that? Just very curious and trying to understand the risks.

    VPN Primer for Noobs

I've read this thread but I'm still not sure if or how I can use VPN. The router I have to use from my ISP doesn't seem to have a VPN-client built in, the Technicolor TG799vac. I also have my own router, a Dovado Pro that I'm using, the Technicolor TG799vac is in DMZ bridge mode. On the Dovado...

gDMSS Plus, push photo and video?

You're linking to the wiki page describing "storing local" and I don't have that tab, that say local, maybe because I don't have a SD card reader. This is my view, my camera doesn't have a SD card slot according to the spec.

gDMSS Plus, push photo and video?

Dahua H2.65 IPC-HDW4431C-A, not an internationell one. No SD card in camera, no NVR or computer with BI at home. I guess I need somewhere to store the video and photos from the camera and then the gDMSS app get from there... or?

gDMSS Plus, push photo and video?

I've just installed gDMSS Plus and the alarm manager is working good and alerts me when IVS is triggered. Now I wonder if this "Push type" photo or video, is possible without an NVR or a computer running BI. I mean, can I get a photo or a video pushed to my android phone, it hasn't worked yet...

Would it be possible to make an easy guide to, how to set up an NFS server for dahua cameras, so you can record to a hard drive at home and what hardware you'll be needing for that, raspberry pi, computer, nas? Vera Secure + Dahua cams

I'm thinking of buying Vera Secure, when it is released soon. Is there an integration between Vera now (plus or edge) and Dahua cams, I guess you need an NVR or a computer connected to the cams too. But is it possible to get the cameras start recording with a command from Vera or the other way...

    Best free external storage?

What I was thinking was, if an intruder breaks in and steel the NVR or the computer with the videos stored you don't have any backup to show the police. Same with local stored videos on a memory card if the steel the cameras. I just do some hypothetical thinking now but I have to agree with...

    Best free external storage?

If you want to save video from your cameras, what is the best option if you don't want to store it local, in your home? I guess there are plenty of options where you can store your video in the cloud for a monthly fee but if you want to do it free, what are the options. What about setting up an...

    Special Request

I have used the firmware from cor35vet to upgrade my Chinese cameras (Dahua H2.65 IPC-HDW4431C-A) and it has been working very good so far. Better than the modified original one. Is it a risk that the cameras can be bricked later under any circumstances according to what cor35vet wrote: "Dahua...

What lens or model for this view

Thank you all guys for the input. I'm very new to all about security cameras as you see and only used it for three months. And so far I only have one up and running but another three at home waiting to be installed. Why I bought the cheap ones I have, is because someone recommended them and...

I'm gonna buy two more cameras of this model: Dahua H2.65 IPC-HDW4431C-A The other cameras have the 2.8mm lens but maybe I should try another one now. I provide you with two pictures taken with my digital camera to show you where they are supposed to be placed. First one: I'm only...

    Cut the cable

I work as an electrician and wiring houses on a daily basis, so it's not that I'm afraid of drilling a hole in wall. No I don't want to use a junction box, not my style. :) Just thought that the cables to the cam was kind of thick and I may easily could cut it and replace it with a rj 45...

    Cut the cable

I need to drill a hole, that's for sure. The network and power are inside. But every hole in the wall makes it more venerable to water and you also damaging the moisture barrier (Is that the correct name in english?). That's why I rather drill a small hole and maybe put a data socket on the inside.

    Cut the cable

I guess it must be possible to cut the two cables to the ipcam and replace it with a rj45 plug, then of course you have to rely on poe, but that's fine for me. The thing is that I don't want to drill a big hole through the wall, only just enough for the cable, and the space in the camera...

I'm wondering if there's something in any software for IPCams where you can you use commands like "And" and "Or" or similar outcome. I mean if you have two or more tripwires in the picture and you may want to prevent false alarm, it may be good to make a rule, that you have to cross two or...
