Email text alerts setup works but actual alerts does not

Hello everyone - you all were super helpful for my last issue about a month ago and my system is working quite well now. Thanks! I've searched around but my problem seems to be slightly different than others. My issue is that I'm able to successfully setup email and send a test email that comes...

Please check if my # & type of cams and my rig are good? Crashing issues

Ah, I'll need to check this when I'm back to my PC. Thanks for the heads up! Excellent! Thank you I was able to do this yesterday and upgrade to BI 5. Truthfully I had some issues where it was crashing immediately but it looks like that was because I did not make the step of turning off BI as a...

Please check if my # & type of cams and my rig are good? Crashing issues

Makes sense. I will do this, I should have room for a 3.5" HDD in the case and I have a few I can choose from not in use. I've just installed version 5 BI and it's in eval mode of course, but I cannot upgrade for $30 unless I'm just missing the location for the link? It says I have to buy the...

Please check if my # & type of cams and my rig are good? Crashing issues

Excellent, thank you I will check into that very soon. I did reconfig each of the cams last night and let everything run overnight, and also researched a little more into my windows log error and it was possibly (but not certainly) a display driver issue, so I re-installed that and actually...

Please check if my # & type of cams and my rig are good? Crashing issues

I'm going to give that a shot; upgrading to version 5. I trust I can export version 4 legacy setting to a .reg file and import into version 5?

Please check if my # & type of cams and my rig are good? Crashing issues

Thanks. I've read through that and will make changes to my fps and I frame interval tonight when I have more time (since I have to do those through browser one by one). One thing I'm confused about is my Blue Iris does not have the options for Main and Sub stream configuration through blue iris...

Please check if my # & type of cams and my rig are good? Crashing issues

I actually do not know what the I-frame is or means. I have the cameras themselves set to 20 but have no idea how or why. What do you mean syncing them up between main and sub streams?

Please check if my # & type of cams and my rig are good? Crashing issues

HWMonitor is showing a max of 39% today but I also made some changes to my configs like dropping down frame rates to 5 fps, And somehow every camera had direct to disc wrong and it was doing encoding (which was in error on my part, as I intended DTD of course). The 39% memory usage was with my...

Please check if my # & type of cams and my rig are good? Crashing issues

Hello everyone. I'm having an issue with my current PC running BI (dedicated to BI only) and running my cams, the computer will be completely frozen sometimes after half a day, sometimes after a week, and anything in between. I'm wondering if it may be that I have too many cams on this G4560...

Apps differentiating main stream, substream 1, substream 2?

I've searched for this answer but couldn't find anything. I'm currently using tinyCam PRO (which is great!) to remotely view my Dahua IP cams. I like the feature where I can see all the cameras streaming at once, but I have 8 cams so when not on wifi (at work) this can suck up quite a bit of...

Dahua IP cameras working on LAN not on mobile Tinycam Pro

Thanks everyone for the help. I purchased an OpenVPN router and got it working just fine! It's actually much easier to use than I thought. The one thing that bugs me though is that my camera feed when over a strong LTE signal the feeds are really juttery and inconsistent. I don't think it's a...

Dahua IP cameras working on LAN not on mobile Tinycam Pro

I was about to go ahead and purchase this but realized that black friday is just around the corner. Here's some deals that popped up. Can any of these run an OpenVPN server? Google search results seem unlcear... are any significantly better that would be worth paying a few extra bucks? like the...

Dahua IP cameras working on LAN not on mobile Tinycam Pro

Thank you. So in terms of just a regular residential camera security system, I likely don't need to worry about encrypting outgoing traffic likely, right?

Dahua IP cameras working on LAN not on mobile Tinycam Pro

Thank you. Spent a good deal of time last night researching this stuff. The 1900 looks like a good option for me, using OpenVPN. One thing I've still got some question marks around is... do I still need to make an OpenVPN account? Or will the router functioning as a server be all I need? So...

Dahua IP cameras working on LAN not on mobile Tinycam Pro

Well I have a D-Link DIR-825 (non-DD-WRT I think, this is about 5-6 years old) on 2.05NA firmware. The only thing on the router config that mentions anything VPN is on the firewall page under the "application level gateway (ALG) configuration" it has a check box for "IPSec (VPN)" but that's all...

Dahua IP cameras working on LAN not on mobile Tinycam Pro

I'm racking my brain on this one. I purchased 4 Dahua IP cams (from AliExpress): 1x IPC-HFW4431R-Z 3x IPC-HDW4431C-A The quality is great. Super happy upgrading from my sPOE Zmodo box set to these. I'm not setup with an NVR yet. These are just plugged into my POE switch, which is plugged...

Advice for dedicated BI build - lots of details inside!

Sorry I had my wisdom teeth out Friday and was laid up for a while :mask: The battery backup I have is an APC BN1250G. I will definitely purchase a power supply without active PFC. I forgot about intel hardware acceleration and the benefits. I'm back onto intel now. It's not much more anyways.

Advice for dedicated BI build - lots of details inside!

I will look at which one I have when I get home tonight. As for the power supply I hadn't picked out a specific one yet. I'm still working on exactly what cameras I'm going to have. I'm also seeing people successful with AMD 8-core builds which can drive down the cost pretty decently. I don't...

Advice for dedicated BI build - lots of details inside!

Sorry I didn't reply sooner. It's an APC. I bought it for like $150, I don't remember the specs. But this will be the only thing running on it 24/7. My PC will also be on it but I only have it on a couple hours a day max.

With the hikvision cameras I imagine I can set them up from at the camera itself to record at different frame rates based on motion or no motion?

Advice for dedicated BI build - lots of details inside!

Ok so a few updates to my plan: 1. I will use the on-chip graphics from the i7 for hardware acceleration 2. I think I'll dramatically drop my FPS from what I stated above, probably 2-3 fps for the 4MP cams when no motion is triggered and only maybe 20 fps during motion 3. I'd like to find a...

Advice for dedicated BI build - lots of details inside!

Thanks, that's a useful calculator website. Look like I'll definitely need more storage or will have to drop the MP down. I'll probably go with 2 cams @ 3MP and the rest at 1080p all at 10 fps. I may still need to bump up the drives to 2TB or 3TB each. Yes, I always say cat5 but I actually...

Advice for dedicated BI build - lots of details inside!

Thanks for the info. That makes sense since my current (crappy) cameras say 30 days for my 1TB drive and they're very low resolution. Honestly though, I don't really care about how far I can go back. If I can use all 3 1TB drives and get let's say 3-4 days of footage, I'd be completely ok with...

Advice for dedicated BI build - lots of details inside!

To clarify, you mean that BI only supports hardware acceleration for the Intel HD graphics so therefor I should use the integrated graphics and NOT use another video card?

Advice for dedicated BI build - lots of details inside!

Hi all, this is my first post but I have been enjoying reading around this site. Tons of great info. I’m piecing together a lot of the Blue Iris build threads for recommendations but before I pull the trigger on anything I would like if some of y’all would comment on my current goals and build...
