Anyone Used Abode For Home Security?

Good point Randy, for some reason I had thought you were tied into a contract with the Lyric system as I think I can only buy them from Alarmgrid or another provider. I did like the fact that system was more open to not having to use specific hardware.

Anyone Used Abode For Home Security?

Hey all, I'm currently in the process of wanting to setup a home security/automation system for my home and my parents. I'm not terribly concerned about the IP Cameras as Ill be running those on a seperate system altogether as I feel most home security systems lack in that department when...

4TB Only showing 2Tb, Have Questions

Thanks Fenderman, Are you referring to reformatting the 4TB drive though? I tried that and nothings changed. I've changed the drive to GPT and still it's limited to 2TB.

4TB Only showing 2Tb, Have Questions

Have had Blue iris and all my IP cameras working flawlessly for sometime now but today for some reason I noticed that the storage device I setup is only using about 2TB. Silly mistake on my part! So now I'm forced with probably reformating everything to get full access to the 4TB drive. I...

Best way to view cameras on a remotely connected TV

Managed to get myself a PI3 and have got Ubuntu Mate up and running without issues. I found the startup applications to open a firefox window on startup and I assume you can just set the default page to the Blue Iris Webserver address but is there an easier way with Ubuntu. How did you get...

Best way to view cameras on a remotely connected TV

I'm not terribly familiar with PI's but what are you running on it for this setup? Linux? Android? Windows? I'm trying to find a easy solution and have never dug into the PI before but always see it recommended more and more for things like this.

Need Help Finishing My Ip Setup

Thanks for the reply, I'm not to terribly concerned with the redundancy, I figured for now I would just stick with one single 4TB and do some backups along the way. It may be something I change down the road. I ended up landing on this as I think someone had mentioned this brand on the forum...

Need Help Finishing My Ip Setup

I'm trying to round out my first ever IP camera setup. The site is for my parents and I've been going through a lot of reading to get a better understanding of what I need. I've got 12 3MP cameras on motion detection (about 4 of those will be in a busy area) that will be running off a 9020...

What Is The Most Important Thing for a NVR

Haha well that is 1100 Canadian so about 850 US. I have found some on eBay just dealing with a guy who is in Canada so I might pull the trigger, it's under 900 Canadian which seems to be on par with pricing. Everything is overpriced north of the border.

What Is The Most Important Thing for a NVR

Thanks fenderman, ideally I don't want to build my own computer just looking for perhaps some suggestions for other prebuilt suggestions that I can actually get within Canada for a good deal. I can get the Optiplex here for $1100 so if I have to bite the bullet on that I probably will.

What Is The Most Important Thing for a NVR

Setting up my first blue IRIS NVR. After having purchased 12 3MP cameras I'm looking for suggestions on what the most important feature is for building or buying an NVR. I've seen multiple suggestions for purchasing a Optiplex 9020 with an i7 4790 processor but being in Canada I'm not sure...

Good source to buy IP items at

I just wanted to drop a note here letting everyone know how appreciative I am of the work that Milkisbad has done for me in getting these great cameras at a great price. Cant recommend him enough as he was able to help me out in getting these cameras in my hands in Canada (he doesn't ship there...
