    Advice on Dahua Cameras

You can try something like this to run 2 cams over 1 cable (still uses two NVR/switch ports).

Do you have internet access? If so, and you want, install TeamViewer and PM me the ID/password and i'll remote in and figure out the Brocade IP and possibly get things running agian.

Cannot connect to camera through PoE switch...

Disregard it for now. I apologize but i'm by no means an expert so i'm somewhat learning as we go myself... Depending on which firmware version the ICX has installed, the reset switch can either erase all settings or simply reboot the switch, apparently. I'm going to assume it reset things back...

Cannot connect to camera through PoE switch...

I'm going to assume pressing reset changed everything back to default settings in which DHPC is not enabled nor is it assigned an IP. I think you're going to need a console cable. I'll research the out-of-band management port but i'm not 100% it'll help in this case. Does your PC get assigned an...

Cannot connect to camera through PoE switch...

When did you press the reset button? When you first received the switch or after making adjustments and the cam stopped working? Are the fans much louder than usual? If you power cycle it, do the fans quiet down significantly after a few minutes or they never change?

Cannot connect to camera through PoE switch...

First, change your BI network card to "obtain an IP address automatically" and then plug it directly to the switch. You should get an IP address which you can then determine the switches IP from. Let us know what happens.

    My finding for a used, high quality PoE switch. 24/48-Port | Gigabit | PoE+ | 390w for around $100

I tried to get an idle reading on my ICX 6430-24P, turns out the load calculation on my UPS is quite off as it was showing around 100w idle. Then, i found out that a Kill-A-Watt really hates modified sine wave. I plugged it into my UPS running on battery and it got super hot, smelled burnt...

    My finding for a used, high quality PoE switch. 24/48-Port | Gigabit | PoE+ | 390w for around $100

I had a long reply i been working on Hell of a project you have going on, impressive! I plan on running nothing but CAT5e, i really hope i don't run into a situation where i need CAT6+, it seems like a pain to work with!

    My finding for a used, high quality PoE switch. 24/48-Port | Gigabit | PoE+ | 390w for around $100

This. If it's configured with default settings, all of the 1-24 ports will communicate with each other. Definitely not the management or console port. If it's not working, they may be on separate VLANs or something. You'll need a console cable to reset things or you may be able to do it from the...

    My finding for a used, high quality PoE switch. 24/48-Port | Gigabit | PoE+ | 390w for around $100

The pic looks looks like my near future! :headbang: Just curious, couldn't you isolate the devices via separate VLANs? Also, how are you handling multiple devices in one area and future-proofing for possible additional devices in the future? Something i been thinking about, i have some ethernet...

    My finding for a used, high quality PoE switch. 24/48-Port | Gigabit | PoE+ | 390w for around $100

I'd also hate to see the combined usage of all the wall wart/power bricks i have plugged up, some without anything connected! There's definitely a future project coming to eliminate those.

    My finding for a used, high quality PoE switch. 24/48-Port | Gigabit | PoE+ | 390w for around $100

Believe me, i stressed over which one to get for a while. In the end I went with the 24-port for lower idle draw, less heat generation, and less noise. If i ever run out of ports, i'll just get another one or whatever is equivalent, cheap, and available at the time. ;) Edit: I still need to run...

    My finding for a used, high quality PoE switch. 24/48-Port | Gigabit | PoE+ | 390w for around $100

I went with the ICX 6430-24P with included rack mounting brackets, it was $109.08 total ($75 + $27.55 shipping + $6.53 tax). Looks like there's a handful of 48-port 6430-48p's for $95 shipped on ebay at the moment.

Until recently i didn't know very much about PoE switches or PoE standards in general. After extensively going down...

best, long lasting micro SD card in 2021?

The Samsung Pro Endurance line looks like it's designed for long-term continuous writing. A side note: I would avoid amazon for all SD cards. The rumor is that they mix inventory with their third-party sellers, or even amazon's own inventory chain is tainted, and lots of reports of people...

    Silent PC recommendation

In my recent, brief research, a 10/11 gen i3 will outperform a 6th gen i7. I've seen 10th/11gen refurbs for about the same cost or not much more than a 6th gen i7 system. Better/newer components and possibly lower power usage too.

    Silent PC recommendation

Fanless is really limiting your options. There's some really tiny mini PC's out there, can't you find a spot for it in a closet somewhere out of sight/sound? Could be easily mounted to the wall or ceiling. Edit: Seen your 3.5" HDD comment. I don't think there's any mini-PC's that will fit a...

Floodlight above or below the camera placement?

I would never recommend this to someone else, but if it were me, i would temporarily wire the light to an extension cord and get on a ladder and place it in both locations at night and see which one is better. Please don't do this unless you're knowledgeable in high voltage and very safe. If i...

    Critique my starter cameras/placement

I'm leaning towards figuring out a way for Hubitat to automatically switch a camera to day mode when a corresponding light is activated. Critique my starter cameras/placement

Thanks, i need to update the OP. After studying the wiki and various other research, i'll be using a minimum of 3 spotters + PTZ for front coverage. Just trying to come up with a plan to start small with better/best cameras and add on as the budget allows.

    Critique my starter cameras/placement

I have flood lights on dumb PIR's on each corner of the eaves on about a 15ft trigger. I would like to eventually use Frigate/Deepstack to trigger them when needed. I may also get some PoE IR's in the future. I need to get a couple cameras first to assess the need.
