Dahua NVR not showing POE cameras as connected

Same here. In the beginning they were all green circles and showed the "ethernet jack" icon on the live view for those cams connected directly to the nvr poe jacks. Of course the cams on the separate poe switch always just show 37777. But the NVR POE attached cams used to show the Port (1-16)...

    Tigersecu DVR settings

Yeah so sumpin's funny here. The factory brick is 12v 3A. They're running 11 cams and the DVR off that. Can't be right. The aftermarket versions show 12v 5A and a 9 channel splitter ONLY, no 16 or 17 channels anywhere. So there's either two of them, or someone rigged it up to do 12 channels...

    Tigersecu DVR settings

Okay. Looks like it comes with one laptop type 12V 3A powerblock with a splitter for the DVR and one side goes to the multi-plugs for the cameras. Seems like a lot of work for one small power source. Guess I'll check if it's sending 12v to everything. But it must be at least on the DVR side...

    Tigersecu DVR settings

Thanks Chris. Any clue why 9 ouf the 12 cams would have that purple cast? I've seen things that like on 1 or 2 cams before, but so many on this system at the same time. I saw they don't have a battery back/surge protector. Was wondering if a surge got to everything or what? But it seems like...

    Tigersecu DVR settings

I know it's junk. Belongs to a friend and the hard drive has failed. Shows in software with error and won't format. We're upgrading in a few months to a new system. I bought a cheapo hard drive just to get through till then. Is the DVR going to lose any of the existing settings because of the...

    Hack attempts right now!

Despite knowing better and all the correct advice, I have found that the Australian firmware updates and super strong password have made it seemingly impenetrable. I have seen them try hundreds of times through the illegal login emails and NO ONE has gotten into it in months. Doesn't stop them...

    Hack attempts right now!

The Ubiquiti looks good, but a little costly. BTW, The hackers appear to have given up for the time being after about 150 tries. Not changing my plans to harden the security, but I think it does say one thing, get your LTS firmware from the LTS Austalian site. And I'm including a firewall...

    Hack attempts right now!

Could I do it with this: Amazon.com: TP-Link Multi-WAN Wired VPN Router | Up to 4 Gigabit WAN Ports | SPI Firewall SMB Router | Omada SDN Integrated | Load Balance | Lightening Protection | Limited Lifetime Protection (TL-R605): Computers & Accessories

    Hack attempts right now!

"He deserves what he gets" First time here, maybe a little sensitive. No matter. I'm getting some good help and I appreciate it a lot.

And yeah, I'll be changing those port numbers to my own BTW.

    Hack attempts right now!

I guess I've configured hundred routers in 25 years. With the DHCP off and static addresses in place, could you explain the "double-NAT" situation a bit? Wouldn't my in-line router just be acting like a switch sort-of but with the filtering features. So if I leave their main router alone and...

    Hack attempts right now!

So thanks for some good suggestions. What about sticking a new D-Link router just before the NVR on my line. Turn off the DHCP etc. I think those can provide IP filtering and maybe even VPN services. I wonder if I could manage it remotely since it's behind another router and port forwarding to...

    Hack attempts right now!

I don't have access to the router. I told her I needed a static address and to forward the port and she did it. I mentioned security issues through the whole process and she said she would handle it. The firmware updates were on the NVR from a thumb drive. They are very happy with the quality of...

    Hack attempts right now!

Unfortunately, replacing their router isn't going to happen. The admin password was changed and sent to all the cameras as well. System kept working for months fine. I just had no remote admin access. I had several other logins available and they all worked under user status so it wasn't a big...

    Hack attempts right now!

So I understand what you guys are saying. The problem is I'm not the IT manager for this company. That person is "Family" and she is a real tight ass. There are language and cultural handicaps as well. I'd just as soon be done with them. But I have to find a way to secure the NVR from hacks. I...

    Hack attempts right now!

Thanks wittaj, I'm aware of that and trying to learn how to apply it. Some other points: They keep trying the admin account. Most of the attempts are about one hour apart. But two were One Second apart. The software lockout minimum attempts can only be set to 3 or more. I'd like it to be just...

    Hack attempts right now!

An LTS installation was already hacked once. Now they are at it again. It's a 4 hour round trip for me to the venue. It's an LTN8616-P16. About twenty illegal login attempts from the same IP address, (supposedly a Verizon phone customer by whois) in the last 24 hours. They don't seem to be...
