How to configure Night/Day with different settings?

Have you considered just changing the light fixture? I don't think you're going to find any camera settings that will compensate for an unshielded light source that close and that bright. If you like the camera where it is, then maybe switch the light source to something with more flexibility...

Did the software have any manufacturer information in the help or about file? Was there an iphone or android app that would show the manufacturer to help point to more information?

HFW-1831E - what really *is* the latest firmware (and do we care...)?

Some further info just in case it's useful at a later point, at night, the cameras will run within the settings I choose. Today I test setting 8MP @ 8Mb/s, 30fps, 30 i-frame, and actual bitrate ran 14-16 Mb/s, with i-frame pulse. At night, same settings, camera bitrate showing normal at about...

Dahua 8MP Lite model cameras with 8MP 1/2.7" and 4MP 1/3" sensors labeled as "starlight" models. September 2020

@bigredfish Would you recommend to shift focus from strictly sensor size to prioritize min illumination and apature size? When I started making the shift from my newbie level of consumer camera to what I have now, besides the info on this site, one method I used is to go to the Dahua...

And moving up correspondingly in price bracket. Following the rule of trying to do too much with too few cameras, I would be in the group that could not justify a $400 price bracket per camera for as many cameras I have.

Dahua 8MP Lite model cameras with 8MP 1/2.7" and 4MP 1/3" sensors labeled as "starlight" models. September 2020

The 5442 series is still shows the 1/1.8" sensor and is a current product. It just didn't make much sense for the 8MP cameras to move to a smaller sensor.

OK, thanks, so the 190404 version. Just checking.

Dahua 8MP Lite model cameras with 8MP 1/2.7" and 4MP 1/3" sensors labeled as "starlight" models. September 2020

So no more cameras with 1/1.8"? The sensor size was one of the key points of my decision making process on which cameras to purchase. The current camera selection has smaller sensors but somehow some claim better performance numbers??

@Rmac1122 Just out of curiosity, which firmware did you receive for the 1831E?

HFW-1831E - what really *is* the latest firmware (and do we care...)?

OK, thanks @Hazza06 and @pozzello I got it, all my 1831's show hardware version 1.00 and processor of DH7200 also. Since I didn't see any issues when at 2.6, I never bothered with H.265 at that time either.

HFW-1831E - what really *is* the latest firmware (and do we care...)?

Can you teach me how to do this? I don't have any knowledge on this. My cameras are connected to a POE switch, with just standard 192.168.x.x static IP addresses.

HFW-1831E - what really *is* the latest firmware (and do we care...)?

That's strange, mine are the opposite. If I have the settings on 8MP at H.264, at 2x fps I get the i-frame pulse bad. If I match fps and i-frame is even worse. The best I can get is to get the pulse tolerable is 6MP at 6MB/s, the fps doesn't matter. If I run 8MP, I get the pulse using...

HFW-1831E - what really *is* the latest firmware (and do we care...)?

Interesting. Where did you disable motion detect? I may do this also. I have Blue Iris doing the motion detect (on the substream), not from the camera input. I have constant record of the main stream to other NVR software. Another interesting thing I figured out recently, ever since moving...

4K starlight Series Firmware Update 20190404

Thanks for the info. I wasn't able to use any 2.6 series once going to 2.8, tried 20(2)00107 but saw no difference and also reverted back to 190404.

Sporadic "Can not find the network host" for all cameras on QC826

OK, it's still not definite whether the issue is the cameras or the NVR. It is statistically unlikely all the cameras have an issue unless something wrong with the firmware. Either way, I was hoping more diagnosis revealed a solution that held. I understand you naturally want to the system to...

Sporadic "Can not find the network host" for all cameras on QC826

A factory reset should trigger the setup wizard, just like when you first started the system.

Sporadic "Can not find the network host" for all cameras on QC826

If your system is a standalone system, then a factory reset would probably be the next logical step. The factory reset option is under the system tab in the NVR.

Sporadic "Can not find the network host" for all cameras on QC826

Do you have your cameras connected to a power supply? There's only 2 ways to get power to the camera, either the power plug or POE, so if you're getting access to the camera, it's one or the other. I'm unaware of any router that has POE ports, so yes, that would seem strange if you have a...

A word of caution also, firmware updates do not always make things better.

Sporadic "Can not find the network host" for all cameras on QC826

Looks like there may be firmware updates for the cameras also. You may consider lowering the framerate to 15, and maybe the resolution in non-critical areas. 8 4k cameras at 30fps is a lot, I don't care what the NVR specs say, that's a lot for any NVR or system to process.

Sporadic "Can not find the network host" for all cameras on QC826

Are you using H.264 or H.265? What are your bitrate settings? I started with a bundled Q-See system a few years ago. When I see that message, I found it meant the cameras were exceeding the capabilities of the NVR. See if your issue occurs when you have less cameras connected. You should also...

Recommendation for WiFi interior mounted window cam not for security purposes

Last I checked the Logitech Circle 2 (spiritual successor to the Alert cameras) was a closed system and would not allow access to a RTSP stream. You shouldn't run IR behind a window. If you have any light in the area you want to monitor you may consider a Hikvision DS-2CD2442FWD-IW. It can...

Camera dropped off the network - what's left apart from a faulty cam?

You have the camera connected to a POE switch, then that switch connected to another switch, which is connected to a mesh node, then connected to your router? Sounds like you should start eliminating some of these middle-men network devices. Consider starting with eliminating the node, leaving...

4K starlight Series Firmware Update 20190404

Well not on my 1831's. I went from 2.622 to the 2.8 series and regretted it since. The failure message I get is in one of my other multple posts looking for solutions to the issues I was experiencing, but I have only been able to move up in version, never backwards, even on the 2.8 series. I...

4K starlight Series Firmware Update 20190404

@stevob7, I've tried moving HFW1831E from 2.8 series back to 2.6 series, it did not work for me and I get a blocking message and failure. If you get it to work, please post back with how you did this.

    Ethernet to camera connection cover

I haven't ordered any yet, but you can take a look at these. The only concern I would have would be the plastic locking tab on the cable plug, it is pressed down when inserting, but it would be depressed if you needed to remove the cable from the connector cap, so the tab may catch and not...
