If your cameras are on the same subnet as the rest of your network they are exposed to the internet. By adding a second NIC you can put your cameras on their own subnet that isn't routed to the Internet. This way they can't call home. You'll need to put a second NIC in the computer you use to...

    Blue Iris won't download updates

Problem was indeed caused by the last Windows updates. Uninstalled the last ones and now it's working again. I turned automatic updates off. Thanks for the help.

    Blue Iris won't download updates

Disabled the firewall and still no joy. Update won't download from within BI. Update won't install when downloaded from BI website. I wonder if Windows update could have caused this problem.

    Can't get vcredist.x64 to install

Yep, seems like updates go on and on. Windows 7 was the worst, do a fresh install towards the end of support and you'd never see the end. Windows Server 2012 R2 is still supported so I'd expect it to still work. Maybe I'm being a bit naive.

    Can't get vcredist.x64 to install

Thanks for your reply. I finally got it to install. Not sure how but if I had to guess I'd say it was a Windows update. This is a fresh clean install of Server 2012 R2 and I ran Windows update until it said there were no more updates available. Apparently that wasn't so. I just went back and...

    Can't get vcredist.x64 to install

Sent a message to support at Blue Iris and they responded telling me to request via the program. Apparently they didn't read the part where I said I can't get the program to run. So how am I supposed to proceed? Can I get a refund? Maybe I should contact my CC bank and dispute the charge? Yes...

    Can't get vcredist.x64 to install

Been searching for a solution all afternoon and have come up with nothing that works. I get the following error - I read in another thread that running vcredist.x64 from the Blue Iris folder fixes this issue. Problem is, there is no such file in the folder. The post also had a link where it...

Pointing a camera into the setting sun

At present I have a no name Chinese Grandstream knockoff camera pointed down my driveway. In the evening it's pointed directly into the setting sun. For an hour or so the image is washed out. The image at other times of the day are normal and as good as it can be, both color and image. The sun...

    Blue Iris UI3

Can someone tell me how to capture an image? I pause the recording and then click on the camera. I then get 2 options, crop to snap or capture full screen. I want neither. All I want is to capture the whole picture and nothing else. It used to do this but now does not. I have searched in vain...

    PFBlocker for PFSense

No one has gained access but I'm still concerned and prefer that people in China, Russia and whatever other country I choose to block do not get past my router. Simple as that. My BI server has 2 network interfaces. One for the cams (192.168.5.XX) and the other for Internet. (192.168.1.xx)...

Model #'s for Dahua cam are totally confusing. So are features per cam. There seems to be a lot of dis info out there even Andy's listings on Amazon don't even list the cams as Dahua so I don't know what the heck they are. Mu requirements are - Turret cam US model with English firmware...

    PFBlocker for PFSense

Keeps the Chinese from trying to hack into Blue Iris. I've had zero attempts from China since I installed it. All my cams are on an internal subnet and not accessible from the Internet. Hopefully I am safe.

    The problem with bullets

I see spiders on mine all the time but never had one build a web over it. It's a cheap Chinese knockoff of a Grandstream, maybe that's why.

Does the video controller make a difference?

Bumped the frame rate up to 30fps on the Driveway cam and set the HW acc to Intel and it made a big difference. Most of the herky jerky motion is gone now.

Does the video controller make a difference?

Looks like it dropped about 5%. Can't see any real world difference tho. Gonna play around with frame rates and see how much I can squeeze out of the system.
