I drilled a 25mm hole through the masonry, and can push the sealed CAT housing and power cable into it. Because the wall is rendered and painted it isn't a big problem if patching is required later. The low profile installation is less imposing. Cheers, Steve -

Perhaps look at setting up a VLAN on the Asus for the cams... it's a similar arrangement to having the second router, which you sound quite set on. I just use the one network and ensure that all security settings are maximised. My cams have no outbound internet access. Apologies I missed you...- Barboots

Hard Drive Failure Notification
I don't think it would be best practice to recover any damaged RAID array which was still in use. Doubling the writes is only an issue if the controller can't handle it and we have not been advised of the subject system scale. With disks so cheap a simple mirror might have satisfied the OPs...- Barboots

Confused Noob - Basic PC NVR Setup
You might choose to put a micro SD card in the camera, given you only have the one. Otherwise you will have to have a PC/Mac or NVR running all the time. Cheers, Steve- Barboots

The Asus option makes it nice and easy to implement the VPN, and you're possibly going to gain improvements in WiFi performance as a bonus. Dahua NVR Issues
You're using P2P for off-site access? If so, is your internet provider perhaps restricting the connection? Using a VPN connection is a far better solution. Cheers, Steve- Barboots

Dahuas lose custom bitrate upon reboot. Any work around?
It wasn't being suggested that the NVR was responsible for the reboots [emoji849]
