    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

I have one on each of mine. Makes for a nice space to tuck all the wires into. Don't make the mistake of buying a camera without the proper mount.

Need advice, security camera in assisted living

Chances are she would be able to identify the person in the room with something like a nest or something similar. It's not like she needs a full blown security system with 2 weeks of retention and super awesome cameras in order to give evidence to police. If she has her own internet, you could...

Idmss push notifications "failed to subscribe"

Dahua gdmss push notification HELP??? Found this just now, according to @nayr the pushes won't work on individual cameras. I get the failed to subscribe when I try to set them up for the NVR itself, but when I try to do it for individual cameras it allows me to subscribe, and I get...

Idmss push notifications "failed to subscribe"

On my Android (gDMSS version 3.49.003) I am able to subscribe to events if I add each camera Individually. If I add the NVR as a device and try to set up the IVS notifications that way, it won't let me subscribe. Before it broke, when everything was working as it should have, a few months ago, I...

    Dahua NVR5216-4KS2 / NVR5216-16P-4KS2

Need help setting up camera for the first time

That looks right. As soon as you change it you won't be able to access the internet or anything else until you change it back to "get ip address automatically"

Need help setting up camera for the first time

Dahua cameras and NVR's ship with the IP address of 192.168.1.108. Since your home network is 192.168.0.xx they can't talk to each other because the first 3 sets of numbers aren't the same. The last set needs to be different for each device on your network. Your router handles giving each device...

Need help setting up camera for the first time

First, plug only the nvr in and set a static ip address for it (not the 192.168.1.108 it comes with...maybe 192.168.x.50 for example. (the x being whatever you currently have setup on your network.) Then, plug only the camera into your network and set its static ip address to something...

    Viewing IVS recordings on mobile

I just realized i posted this in the wrong section. Dahua NVR5216-4KS2 / NVR5216-16P-4KS2

Thanks for this. I'm on the edge about getting one of these routers and while my NAS handles my VPN for me, something like this will just be nice to have access to.

Are you still using H.264 compression on IP Cameras?

The two camera's i (and many, many others) have recommended are proven to be high quality security cameras. Why are you trying so hard to find and buy a different one? Have you seen this thread? Dahua 2MP Starlight Lineup

Are you still using H.264 compression on IP Cameras?

I think the 44A1 is a cheap plastic camera in Dahuas lite series. It definitely doesn't have the Starlight sensor. Other websites seem to refer to it as being in their pro series, but the dahua website says lite. Not sure what's going on there or why it is so expensive.... (quick searches show...

Are you still using H.264 compression on IP Cameras?

Your comparing a camera that is apparently in the "end of life stage" and in their lite series to boot... To a newer camera in their pro series. The build quality is going to be substantially different, plus im guessing the end of life camera is using outdated hardware. These are two...

Are you still using H.264 compression on IP Cameras?

My guess is that your missing something else. H264 vs 265 isn't going to double the price of the camera. What 2 cameras are you looking at?

Yes I am. And shit...you're probably right on that. For what its worth though, my pushes were working long after I upgraded the NVR's firmware.

2.8mm vs 3.6mm, which do you prefer for a fixed-lens?

Correct if you are installing a camera for security. I have a few 2.8 mm cams for overview and am happy with them. But i absolutely don't expect to identify someone i don't know with them.

2.8mm vs 3.6mm, which do you prefer for a fixed-lens?

Ok, for overview shots such as something at the top of your house overlooking your entire back yard, so you can watch and make sure your kids or pets are contained in their outdoor pen while your in the kitchen making dinner, id choose a 2.8mm. For pure security concerns, such as a camera...
