BI recording to USB flash
Question on recording... If the pc I'm using has an HDD which I do not intend to upgrade to SSD right now, would I be better off using a USB 3.0 thumb drive to write to instead? I have modest recording needs so a 64 gig drive would be fine. I'm just wondering if it would be more efficient...- kwtrading

Thanks for the info. I've been away for work the last couple of days but will download as soon as I get home and likely upgrade as soon as the coast is clear on 4.0 even if at a cost.- kwtrading

Anyone try the new FI9803 series Foscams?

Thanks for the replies. The basic rtsp://x.x.x.x:rtspport is actually working for me in VLC now. Phew. I figured out what I was doing wrong all along though. I was using the wrong rtsp port. Forgot that I had changed it from the default 554 to something else - doh! By the way, the following... -

Thanks. Just tried IP Cam Viewer but there wasn't really a clear option under Hikvision models to use for the 2032. The only one that would work at all was type DS-2CD8153F-E and that one exhibits similar issues. Is there a manual anywhere online for the Hikvision 2032 or the version 5.2.0... -

BTW - it also freezes eventually in the same amount of time on substream 2 at lower resolution. Again pointing to it not being a bandwidth issue. All my other cams are fine in the same app. Maybe I will download another app and see if it has the same issue. -

How do Hikvision sub-streams work?
thanks everyone for the replies. I was able to get the sub stream going on a Hikvision 2532 and my LiveCams Pro iphone app. Pretty simple once I figured out that all I needed to do was change the camera settings in the app to Channel 2 to see the sub stream! works like a charm. however... -

I see that typical Hikvision cams such as the 2032 and 2132 support a 'main' stream and a 'sub' stream but the documentation doesn't fully explain how this works. Can someone explain or link to an good explanation? I'd like to be able to record locally in 1080p in Blue Iris but view remotely...
