    BI recording to USB flash

Question on recording... If the pc I'm using has an HDD which I do not intend to upgrade to SSD right now, would I be better off using a USB 3.0 thumb drive to write to instead? I have modest recording needs so a 64 gig drive would be fine. I'm just wondering if it would be more efficient...

Can I still download and install 3.66 on a new computer?

Thanks for the info. I've been away for work the last couple of days but will download as soon as I get home and likely upgrade as soon as the coast is clear on 4.0 even if at a cost.

Anyone try the new FI9803 series Foscams?

I'm assuming these are new models since user reviews are just starting to be posted on places like Amazon. FI9803P wifi model FI9803EP POE model The few reviews that are posted are fairly positive. Personally I have both a Hikvision 2032 and a Foscam FI8905w. I love the Hikvisions HD clarity...

Can I still download and install 3.66 on a new computer?

I just purchased Blue Iris 2-3 months ago and am running 3.66. Have not upgraded to 4 because a)I'm waiting for any bugs to get worked out and b)I'm still irked that I have to pay to upgrade to 4 when I just bought version 3 a month before 4 came out. Anyway on to my question... I just got a...

    RTSP streaming with VLC

Thanks for the replies. The basic rtsp://x.x.x.x:rtspport is actually working for me in VLC now. Phew. I figured out what I was doing wrong all along though. I was using the wrong rtsp port. Forgot that I had changed it from the default 554 to something else - doh! By the way, the following...

    RTSP streaming with VLC

Hello, I'm trying to be able to view my Hikvision 2032 with VLC using an RTSP url but not having any luck (everything I try fails). I've gotten it to work with other cameras using VLC in the past so in theory I know I'm doing the right thing. Just can't get the Hikvision going. Can anyone...

    Hikvision 2032 noisy picture

Thanks for responding. I ended up moving it tonight closer to the house with more light and closer subject matter based on your comments. What a difference. Looks perfectly fine now.

    Hikvision 2032 noisy picture

Picked up a 2032 recently and after some testing indoors which I thought was fine went ahead and installed outside. Not sure what is going on but the night time picture is just awful. Lots and lots of noise in the picture. I'm not really convinced daytime is much better but it's at night when...

Struggling a bit with my new Hikvision 2032

Well I'm very happy to report I solved the problem by a total fluke today. All is good now. My wife and I were doing some last minute remodeling for a family Christmas party at our house next week and I had to move some electronics. When I picked up my Ooma Telo voip box and flipped it over I...

Struggling a bit with my new Hikvision 2032

no luck with the active x choice. does not work at all. I think my next plan will do like you say - go through setting for setting compared to the 2532's and set the exact same as a control and test. If still an issue then next week I will take it to work with me and set it up with an available...

Struggling a bit with my new Hikvision 2032

Thanks. Just tried IP Cam Viewer but there wasn't really a clear option under Hikvision models to use for the 2032. The only one that would work at all was type DS-2CD8153F-E and that one exhibits similar issues. Is there a manual anywhere online for the Hikvision 2032 or the version 5.2.0...

Struggling a bit with my new Hikvision 2032

BTW - it also freezes eventually in the same amount of time on substream 2 at lower resolution. Again pointing to it not being a bandwidth issue. All my other cams are fine in the same app. Maybe I will download another app and see if it has the same issue.

Struggling a bit with my new Hikvision 2032

I like to use Livecams Pro because I have cameras that aren't mine loaded into that as well such as the outdoor cams of family members in other states. I'm new to the BI app but as far as I know I can only view cameras that are currently running on my home BI pc. I have no desire to be...

Struggling a bit with my new Hikvision 2032

Hi everyone, After learning with some basic lower end cameras (DLink, Linksys, Foscam), I finally bought a Hikvision 2032 bullet which arrived the other day and is my first HD camera. It's running V5.2.0 build 140721 It's up and operating just fine on my LAN and my Blue Iris setup is...

Hikvision Alarm triggering / Water alert

Thanks both of you for responding. Sorry I haven't been able to respond sooner. The pump alarm is interesting for a bit of a price premium. $30 a year for cellular alerting seems reasonable if you made the investment in the hardware. The smarthome sensor also seems interesting in that it has a...

Hikvision Alarm triggering / Water alert

I think some model Hikvision's such as the 2052 have input / outputs that can possibly be used to trigger recording / alarms. I just finished my basement (took 5 years of weekends - sigh) and I would hate to see it get flooded. My basement is dry but you never know - broken pipe, well pump...

    How do Hikvision sub-streams work?

thanks everyone for the replies. I was able to get the sub stream going on a Hikvision 2532 and my LiveCams Pro iphone app. Pretty simple once I figured out that all I needed to do was change the camera settings in the app to Channel 2 to see the sub stream! works like a charm. however...

    How do Hikvision sub-streams work?

I see that typical Hikvision cams such as the 2032 and 2132 support a 'main' stream and a 'sub' stream but the documentation doesn't fully explain how this works. Can someone explain or link to an good explanation? I'd like to be able to record locally in 1080p in Blue Iris but view remotely...
