Researching system for home use
ok, so I JUST got into Blue Iris. Direct To Disc basically means BI isn't going to try and reencode the video stream - so you lose out on the option of re-encoding the file, adding overlays, or having BI rotate the image when saving. So yes, you need to worry about IOPS, but I don't think... -

Bandwidth question
since you mention you got new Amcrest cameras, try changing the settings on it to 15FPS and 2048 bitrate. This will chop it's network bandwidth use by half.- typo

Motion Detection Triggering and Not Triggering
I think you can use the mask feature to block out that portion (top left 10%) and motion there won't trigger a clip- typo

I don't know if this Amcrest is "crap". The video quality is fine for my needs and has the networking feature set that I wanted. Now, the earlier Foscam's I had, that's a different situation. -

not having luck getting BI to play an alert sound thru the camera speaker when motion is detected (just a simple beep) I know 2 way audio works as the Chrome App Amcrest App allows me to speak thru the speaker. BI is recording audio fine from it. -

yeah, mine just upgraded too I popped in a 32gb memory card yesterday. It recorded to it fine, so now I have BlueIris recording and the camera storing a copy as well. It has more clips as it doesn't have masking features like BlueIris -

from what I saw, the extra BI load was minimal. I was glad to see the network load didn't seem to increase at all. My cameras will just be monitoring my front door and backyard, so any needed clips should get to the backup NAS before someone takes the pc. I do plan on getting a PC lock to... -

thanks to Fenderman and Q2U for the help. I decided it's just better to run a batch file that starts when the computer starts and just does a robocopy every 10 seconds to my NAS storage. I found the video file isn't locked, and robocopy will happily copy a half written file. But after 10... -

I just did it and it works fine. Network bandwidth remained the same, cpu went from 4.5-4.6% to 7-7.2%, but I have enough for that. One other question though...I don't see how to hide the cloned camera without disabling it. As to why, just in case someone comes in and steals my Blue Iris... -

I currently have clips saving to the SSD of the machine that's running Blue Iris. I'd like to make a copy (not move) for redundancy to another device on my network thru SMB protocol. I could just create a batch file that runs every few minutes to sync up folders, but then it has to work around... -

yeah, I don't see anything obvious in the interface, it'd be nice to be thrown a bone as to what tab to look at. I don't see anything in the manual for this. I can FTP clips, but I just want to copy them to a SMB share. I see an archiving option, but that's based on disk space/time thresholds. -
