    Recommendation for Android push notifications

I can't speak to gdmss but on idmss there is no reason to have to login every time. I can't see that being normal. You sure there's no way to save your username and password on the app itself?

    NVR5xxx Firmware Released on 201712

Did you try to plug the computer in one of the ethernet ports in the back on the NVR? try that and then run the config tool if necessary. As for the cameras which cameras do you have (I'm assuming Dahua w/ that Dahua NVR) and have you tried to factory default them by opening them up and...

iDMSS Plus Push Notifications - Picture/Video Working Then Stops Working!

Strange as I have no issue like this with the update. When I click on the notification, like usual it takes me to the live camera feed (3rd tab up top) and then I have to manually click the first tab up top (looks to me like a movie film icon) to see the recorded event.

    iDMSS Plus 4.01.000 issues/ bugs

FYI I believe with the 4.10.001 iDMSS update the bug has been fixed where you click a notification and it takes you to the incorrect event. It is now properly taking you to the event even without needing to open iDMSS first. A swipe or click on the notification when iDMSS is closed and iPhone...

IDMSS =Failed to Connect Over Cellular Data

I updated as well and my cellular is working correctly. I was having problems over WiFi (on vacation) last week before realizing that Xfinity somehow blocks me even when connected to my vpn.

iDMSS on cell phone works fine with VPN - doesn't connect on wifi?

Thanks @looney2ns - I am at my father-in-laws house and set his network up for him so he is not blocking any particular ports. His ISP (Xfinity in Southern Florida) might be blocking them without his knowledge. I have no problem using public hotspots to connect to my NVR using iDMSS and my VPN...

iDMSS on cell phone works fine with VPN - doesn't connect on wifi?

So I'm away and want to check on my cameras. I have all Dahua cameras and an NVR-5216-4kSE from Andy. My VPN is setup through my Raspberry Pi and as far as I can tell has been working fine. So here's my issue. When I use my cell phone plan (verizon wireless) and connect with OPENVPN I can...

    iDMSS Plus 4.01.000 issues/ bugs

I woke up to about 5 alerts this morning on my iPhone. I opened up the app and then clicked on the first (newest) alert. It took me to an event from a previous time that I’ve never viewed. I may have cleared it the prior day but I don’t remember. After the first swipe on the first alert didn’t...

iDMSS Push Notifications - Push Type? Video/Image Doesn't Work - FIXED!

not sure if this helps or not but whenever I open up a notification, the first one takes me to an older notification, usually from the day before. It's only after I view an older notification that I am able to view the notifications at their proper (current, respective) times. Also when I open...

    iDMSS Plus 4.01.000 issues/ bugs

very often when I open up a notification I see a recording of the previous day that has nothing to do with the current notification. I have to manually have the app open on my iPhone for it to sometimes work properly. I haven't figured out when it works vs. when it does not.

Annoying bug in latest iDMSS 4.00.000

I updated iDMSS today to 4.01.000 and while the alarm manager still does not show all alarm events unless you open them from the notification center, the "double video" is fixed. I no longer see a repeat video when the IVS rules is triggered. It play continuously for me. Please see if this...

4KS2E - new version of NVRs

Just an FYI with the newer firmware on the 5216 NVR you can access the cameras through the nvr login screen or OSD without needing to plug into the actual nvr anymore.

    Dahua Camera Initial setup

Get the NVR up and running with no cameras plugged in. Then plug the camera into the POE NVR and give it a few moments to register. DO NOT FOLLOW THE CLIFF NOTES WHEN IT SAYS TO CHANGE THE IP ADDRESS ETC. I made that mistake and had to open each camera up to do a factory reset. From my...

    Dahua NVR5216-4KS2 / NVR5216-16P-4KS2

Searched the manual but couldn't find it. Can anyone tell me what this red person means next to the camera named "side" on the pic I attached. Is it telling me that it is detecting motion? Thanks for the help.

Annoying bug in latest iDMSS 4.00.000

lol @looney2ns - there's another thread here about another issue with the alarm manager: iDMSS Alarm Manager missing events bug I was just thinking we should make a list of all the problems and ask @EMPIRETECANDY to submit the bugs all at once.

Annoying bug in latest iDMSS 4.00.000

We should make a thread with all the issues relating to iDMSS. I have noticed this problem as well as (and more importantly in my opinion) the issue relating to alarm manager only showing the event when you slide open the notification. I’ve also noticed that if you skip a notification or two...

    Review-Dahua Starlight IPC-HDW5231R-ZE 800 meter capable ePOE

Thanks @Terk - I think I may hold off on updating the firmware as I'm unsure of the process as well as of the mindset "if it isn't broken..." but let's say I was to change my mind and wanted to update firmware. My cameras get their power from the NVR (NVR5216-16P-4KS2). - can I update the...

    Review-Dahua Starlight IPC-HDW5231R-ZE 800 meter capable ePOE

Just checked the firmware on the Z vs. ZE cameras: firmware on the Z: 2.622.0000000.18.R, Build Date: 2017-11-10 firmware on the ZE: 2.460.0000.15.R, Build Date: 2017-09-07 I'm just not sure what the differences are in framerates and bitrates. My assumption is that the higher each is the...

    Review-Dahua Starlight IPC-HDW5231R-ZE 800 meter capable ePOE

I have a few IPC-HDW5231-Z and a few IPC-HDW5231-ZE cameras mounted. I was expecting to set them all to the same encoding mode settings with matching FPS and bitrate etc and I'm noticing that the "Z" model is showing up as 50 FPS but the "ZE" only shows 25 max. I'm posting pictures of both...

See any problem with my anticipated placement?

You know what @looney2ns - you're right. I just went out to measure my sideways mounted 5231 on a PFA130 juntion box mounted to a vertical wall and it's only 6" off the wall. Strangely it looks much bigger than that.

See any problem with my anticipated placement?

Thanks for the info mat200 - I did think about that mount but again, becuse it's a vertical wall it would push the camera a good 8-10 inches away from the wall. I think I'm going to try it under the header of the garage door so I can feed the wires into the garage. It'll make the 5231 have a...

See any problem with my anticipated placement?

Thanks for the feedback. The header is only a flat 2x4” so it’s easy to drill through. You do make a very valid point about directioning though. I was hoping to avoid mounting against a vertical wall to avoid the big extruding sideways mounted turret. Nonetheless that may be the best bet. I’ll...

    Dahua NVR5216-4KS2 / NVR5216-16P-4KS2

I've been using an NVR5216-16P-4FS2 for a few weeks now. I've set the monitor to 1920x1080 but yet I'm still missing the edges on my screen when viewing the OSD with an HDMI wire. I was able to rectify by changing the television from 16:9 to "fit screen" but then when I switch input back to...

    Review-Dahua Starlight IPC-HDW5231R-ZE 800 meter capable ePOE

Okay if I understand you correctly, when I set the profile to schedule on the profile management page, at those particular times the camera will switch actual profiles to "day" vs. "nights". So for my needs I can set the "night" profile to "black and white" and the "day" profile to "auto or...

    Review-Dahua Starlight IPC-HDW5231R-ZE 800 meter capable ePOE

Looking for some guidance here. I have one camera (IPC-HDW5231-Z) that is near a light source at night so it won't auto switch to "night" mode. I believe I am setting up the camera properly by going to profiles and setting the times and clicking on save by logging into the camera directly and...
