    Hi, it most certainly not do a factory reset on the camera. How have you got the camera hooked up to your home network and how are you remotely accessing the camera. There is a small chance that you've been a victim of the HIK Backdoor and someone has reset it for you. Paul

    It's available in the GUI of the camera, but that then doesn't link it with the NVR. In the NVR the page is there, it just says 'Invalid Operation' when I try to save anything on that page.

    So I've also upgraded the Camera to 5.4.5 as per @VorlonFrog post above, but I still cannot get my HIK NVR to save any Smart events to the device.. Not the end of the world, but if I was to use one in the Garage, then I'd like a notification if anything happens.

    I know on my VPN Server (Synology NAS Package) that there is an option to allow remote connections to connect to the LAN. I wonder if this is your issue? You're connecting in, but don't have access to the LAN machines.

    I'm in the UK, so got it from Amazon over here on one day delivery, a nice little camera. If I was going to do anything more specialised then I'd probably go for a 4MP HIK one, albeit at the increased cost, but for a quick overview camera or for just monitoring the garage it does just fine.

    I doubt if you'll be able to use any of the Smart Event features.. Line Crossing, Intrusion detection etc.. That's on the Camera itself, not sure if the Synology package does this itself.

    HikVision also do a low light camera, which can be found in this thread. There are lots of options out there but do yourself a favour, unless the beach house is brightly lit 24*7, get yourself a lowlight capabile camera. Either Hik or Dahua.
