    No problem. I know the consensus is to go with BI, and I very well may do that in the not too distant future. But for me, a beginner, setting up and maintaining an NVR was a good start. I have a lot more learning to do before tackling a switch to BI.

    I'll be the odd man out here and recommend a Hikvision NVR. The I-series is very good, has frequent firmware updates to add features/fix bugs, and with a little seat time is easy to understand.

    There may be some way to make it work, but I tried many combinations of sensitivity and shorter/longer filtering times with no luck. I wish I could make it work, as the extra protection against tampering would be nice. Thanks for the input, sir.

    It likely won't. It's been a problem on the web portal all year - no smart event markers. You can only see them on the direct NVR interface. Sure wish Hik would fix this.

    Are you changing it in the NVR or the cameras? I've found that I have to make the changes in the cameras for them to save properly.

    That has never worked for me for line crossing or intrusion. I can only view them directly on the NVR, even in IE on one camera view and the proper "swizzler" setting. Lots of people report the same thing, so I'm curious how you've gotten it to work.

    Hardwired a Rexing V1 into my DD about a month ago. Been working just fine and the recordings seem to fit the bill. It's a cheapie $100 unit from Amazon.

    You have to go into the HikConnect app and change the port in there as well. It's still on 8000. Change it to the new port you assigned on your NVR.

    Glad it worked for you man. I can't take credit as it was someone else on this forum who made the suggestion. But I can say that my system has been running for 5 months since I made the port change and in reviewing my logs last night, I've not had one single illegal login attempt.
