Has Anyone Here Tested the SD1A203T-GN Yet (2MP 3x Starlight IR PTZ Network Camera)?

quick correction to my post above. i did not see the 90 deg, just the 180 flip in the specification sheet.

Has Anyone Here Tested the SD1A203T-GN Yet (2MP 3x Starlight IR PTZ Network Camera)?

that looks to be the fixed lens version (PT no Z) of the 203, which should be fine for some testing. @Arjun , what would be the issue mounting vertically? It looks to have plenty of range of motion in all three axis and the image can flip 180 and 90.

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Bullet Z5 7-35mm (IPC-HFW5231E-Z5)

I assume that these are relativity low cost MICs, with the plastic one being the lowest cost? Is anyone using them, with an opinion?

Has Anyone Here Tested the SD1A203T-GN Yet (2MP 3x Starlight IR PTZ Network Camera)?

How strange. I just saw that last night, and was going to ask almost the same question. In fact it (they) was still open on my computer. Plus.., what really stands out is the wide HFOV (IMO). I have recently noticed that there are virtually no security or conference PTZ cameras with wide...

seeking a better camera for this location

Based on your image, you are wasting more than 2/3 of your pixels to the sides (compare the width of the lanes at the guard shack to the width of the frame at that location). I would use the 2mp 5231 turret zoomed all the way in (12mm). I might use it in corridor mode as mentioned above to get...

    Initial setup Not recording problem

Nope! That seems like a good idea! That seems to be it. Thanks. I did not see mention of this setting in the videos or Wiki. What does "Triggered + Continuous each" do (see below)? Is this likely desired? Now that it seems to record, let squeeze in a couple more questions: 1) Is...

    Initial setup Not recording problem

I am just starting to set up BI. I think i am missing something very obvious in the setup process. I think it is not recording 24/7 (direct to disk). It is however recording clips. It is also generating files in the "new" directory. The reason i think it is not recording, is two fold...

Recommended power supply for setup purposes?

Anything with a 12V 2A or greater with 2.1mm x 5.5mm plug should work. from Amazon I just use a single POE injector, so i can connect it directly to my laptop (two devices on the subnet) for setup.

BI basic questions vs Dahua NVR

Thanks for the tip on the nw image + licence transfer via the MS media creation tool. It worked great. I only had to deal with the first boot sign in in its original config and then after creating the USB, i reconfigured it to have drive 0 the SSD and drive 1 the 8TB and reboot. I see that a...

    Best alternative for Live monitor

Not trying to hijack the thread. I just received my refurbished Dell and 8TB HDD and moved the OS to the 256GB SSD. I was about to download BI and get going on that, but wondered about the display option, especially after reviewing the videos @Dasstrum posted. I assumed that most people run...

BI basic questions vs Dahua NVR

Strange that MS does not distinguish between basic and pro on the "after" , but they do on the going from section when using the media creation tool. Your current edition of Windows (from): Windows 7 Starter Windows 7 Home Basic Windows 7 Home Premium Windows 7 Professional Windows 7...

BI basic questions vs Dahua NVR

I think i understand now. The one stream from the camera(s) is sort of split. One goes direct to disk (no decompression and re-compression needed from the NVR BI PC, and one gets decompressed by the graphics section of the CPU for use by BI to detect events, where it makes some sort of meta...

BI basic questions vs Dahua NVR

how easy is it to move the licence (win10pro) to a new SSD on these ebay machines? I assume that the image normally comes on a dedicated partition on the HDD and installed to the second partition for use, with no key printed anywhere so downloading an ISO to a new SSD boot drive will leave me...

BI basic questions vs Dahua NVR

I am still dragging my feet in my home setup NVR. For one thing i figured that memory prices would come back down, but they have not, and another thing the availability of low priced I7 6700s is poor, likely due to the prevalence of laptops in the workplace now. As i look into this move again...

    Sensors used in Dahua cams

@wopi82 Thanks for putting that together. Am i correct that in general, a larger pixel size would tend to equate to more light per pixel per unit of time? The IMX294 must be amazing (and large)? Can you add this as an attachment so i can save it as a pdf?

    Dahua Video Doorbell DB10

It looks good on the surface. Maybe it can be run 24/7 with the USB charge port connected. I don't understand how they can get/claim 5 months of use with a small battery system. I also don't understand how they can get a good picture if they are off (standby) and then turn on somehow before...

If I have security cameras, do I still need a Ring Doorbell?

Looks good. i recommend playing with the placement of the wedge before drilling holes. I moved mine three times. Unfortunately, i drilled holes each time, although into wood.

    BI on Intel NUC6i7KYK?

That is good data. Have you thought about using an external drive for more time? I will probably have around 9 cameras. i will probably be streaming ~2 mbps from each unless i get some 8mp versions or H265 gets supported.

If I have security cameras, do I still need a Ring Doorbell?

i have the Ring Pro and a mini dome above the door and a U starlight for the driveway leading to the door. If i were honest, the Ring is 4x as useful as the other two, especially for my wife who works from home, who gets alerts when people approach the door, and can decide to ignore it, answer...

    IPVM annual subscription?

i suppose so. It is a shame in my opinion. I see the value, but not at that level for me. It is around the same price as IEEE, but at <1/10,000 of the user base.

    IPVM annual subscription?

I have wondered for quite a while why the IPVM forum site is so expensive at its lowest price tier. I would think that many times as many people would subscribe to a forum that had person service prices that were a fraction as high. Who can justify $200/year besides a successful multi-person...

If I have security cameras, do I still need a Ring Doorbell?

Yes, unfortunately, you really need it. There are several threads here on two way audio (doesn't work). Keep in mind, that the Ring Pro has a tinny little speaker, so it is not very loud. I have one, and am also keeping an eye out for something better, and no $3/mo for cloud storage (only...

    BI on Intel NUC6i7KYK?

NTP Server not working for Dauha cameras

@HEVNBND , if it isn't listening, then it isn't a server, no matter what service you are running. It will never answer a query for time info by the cameras. If it cant get through the firewall on 123, it also isn't an NTP client. A normal NTP server is also a client, where it establishes its...

NTP Server not working for Dauha cameras

Received A Camera With Some Stuff Behind The Lens

yes, i see the image with the glue in the upper right corner and a speck of white below it. I suspect it is hot glue on the inside that will need to be removed if it is in the FOV with a razor blade and a micro fiber cloth from the inside.

New version SmartPSS 11/24/17 - snippet hour bug fixed

The camera that i was messing with last night only had local (uSD) storage, which might have been a lot of the problem. I tried it again just now in another location and camera where i have a Dahua NVR, and had no issue at all with the first 5 min mp4 clip that i selected. I did notice that...
