Long Range POE Camera Solutions for a rural application

So the uplink port is not epoe, you'd have to use one of the 4 switch ports for your uplink as well, effectively becoming a 3 port switch. What about using a set of lr1002 cat5 to coax epoe adapters between a couple of normal switches, anyone ever try that?

Intrusion Detection Regions And Small Animals

That is something I am actually not clear on, as there seems to be a difference between the Web Interface and the SmartPSS Interface. Using SmartPSS I usually get a couple options for setting up IVS rules the Web Interface doesn't have such as: Width & Height/Width or Height selection - This...

Long Range POE Camera Solutions for a rural application

That is good to know thanks. I don't believe any of the switches I have ever used are epoe but maybe I should double check! Edit: neither the pfs 3110 (low temp) or 3010 are epoe, those are the only 2 I have used. I'll have to look into the epoe one, thanks.

Long Range POE Camera Solutions for a rural application

Yes epoe would work, when running copper between buildings you need to be mindful of lightning protection, as well as ground loop issues. If both buildings don't have a common ground, they could be at different potentials and cause your network equipment to act as a ground, which would fry it...

Long Range POE Camera Solutions for a rural application

I install cameras for people in rural areas. They've pretty much covered the options here. I use Ubiquiti Nanostation and Nanobeams often to get out to remote buildings as needed, usually alot easier than trenching, and have been very reliable. My longest link is about a mile and it has been...

Intrusion Detection Regions And Small Animals

Replay a recording with the IVs rules enabled. Do one with a human and one with a cat. Look at how big it draws the box around both. The box the camera will draw on a subject is very often bigger than the object itself, sometimes quite a bit bigger especially smaller objects. So you need to...

IPC-HDW5231R-ZE Rhea V2.800.0000016.0.R.200430 Latest new firmware

The serial number is what is used for P2P connections. If you have your camera behind a firewall it isn't much risk, but otherwise people could try to login to your camera with the serial number.

Review - Dahua SD49225XA-HNR 2MP 25x Starlight + IR PTZ AI Camera with Deep IVS & SMD Plus

I can't remember where I have my tracking size setup right now, but I believe it is somewhere around 40-50 as well. Above 50 I found it zoomed in to much. Vehicles it wasn't as bad, but on humans in would zoom in to far and you'd just get a good shot of their chest. I'm thinking for fast...

Dahua poor auto tracking - What am I doing wrong?

No that is true, you probably won't have the best version of auto tracking but it's worth a shot. Out of curiosity what date is the firmware from?

Dahua poor auto tracking - What am I doing wrong?

I'm using a 49225xa-hnr, so be a similar model to the one op had posted about. I'm using the most recent firmware that I know of, it's from March 2020,so I'm sure the more recent firmwares are much better at auto tracking than the old ones, especially based on this thread. I would see if you...

Dahua poor auto tracking - What am I doing wrong?

Based on this thread I can say that I think the auto tracking software has improved substantially over time and will continue improving. I'm running 2 cams with new firmware that supports auto tracking, and it performs much better than how it is described here, with very little work on my part...

    IPC-HDW4231EMP-ASE Won't Conenct

I have a IPC-HDW4231EMP-ASE that I can't seem to get a connection to. It was last connected to around January. It was installed in a remote location without Internet access, and hadn't been checked all winter. They went to go connect to it in the spring and couldn't get a connection. It was...

    IVS with SD1A203T-GN

Yes good call. Should clarify to, are you getting notifications of IVs events, just no recording? Or is morning happening? Of you view the live stream in smart pss, right click on the video and select "IVs rule". Do you see your IVs rule show up? If there is movement can you see it track the...

Can you post a screenshot of your IVs rule? Do you have IVs selected under the smart plan section?

Dahua poor auto tracking - What am I doing wrong?

Your best bet is going to be to walk through the scene where you want the detection to take place and see what sized box it draws around you while an IVs rule is active. Make your minimum size based off of that. Make sure to test it again and that it still captures you. Also remember that...

Dahua HDW5231R-ZE takes power but no longer negotiates network?

I had this happen to a camera of mine too. Was never able to get it to communicate, but would power up with Poe. I believe I could even hear it change up night mode, just no comm

    Review-Dahua SD6CE245U-HNI Starlight PTZ 45x Zoom

Ya, in the example they were talking about I believe the person had done it on an nvr5208, whose interface would look very similar to their camera, that's why they would be confused why they can't see the same options on their camera. They probably didn't realize they were looking at an nvr...

    Review-Dahua SD6CE245U-HNI Starlight PTZ 45x Zoom

Yes but I don't think you can do it natively with standalone cameras can you? I believe you need an nvr or BI to communicate between cameras.

    Does DH-IPC-HDW4433C supports POE 802.3af?

I use ubiquiti AF Poe injectors with great success for all of my af cameras that aren't on a switch. They are cheap and have been reliable.

    Common issues with camera image

Great post, I have one question though and it's a common question when tuning systems where one variable impacts the goal you are trying to achieve. Which one do you change first? I'm thinking exposure is the primary attribute to adjust, so leave the others (gain, dnr) at default (or off?) and...

    Does DH-IPC-HDW4433C supports POE 802.3af?

All dahua cameras are active Poe, either AF or at depending on power requirements. You will never hurt a device plugging it into an active Poe port. The active means that the Poe source negotiates with the Poe device and determines what is required, if any. If it is the wrong kind of Poe or...

    Review-Dahua SD6CE245U-HNI Starlight PTZ 45x Zoom

Are you looking at where a fixed camera can trigger a ptz to move to a preset? If so I think you need an nvr52xx to do that.

    Review-OEM 4mp AI Cam IPC-T5442TM-AS Starlight+

Keep in mind it is twice the resolution. That means in the same bitrate, you'll have less quality at 4mp than 2mp. Same thing with frame rate, higher framerate means lower quality for each frame at the same but rate.

    P2P remote vs local connection

Thanks, I haven't had a chance to test it myself yet. That's interesting but at least shows the main stream is through the local network. Odd that it needs some communication outside the network though after it has established a connection.

    P2P remote vs local connection

Thanks, so if you are local, after the initial handoff, the stream will stay on your local network, without leaving your LAN?

    P2P remote vs local connection

I guess I should have clarified, but I am in the dahua forum. This is on dahua cameras. Just wondering if p2p will recognize if you're on the same subnet as the cameras and connect locally instead of over the internet. I'll read that axis paper and see if it sheds any light in it, but not...

    P2P remote vs local connection

So I know the controversy surrounding P2P connections, but I have a questions about them. Does anyone know how direct of a connection it attempts to create between your device and your camera? Say you are on the same subnet as the camera with your phone. When you initiate a P2P connection...
