    God I hate lightning....

IT's not funny at the time, but it makes a hell of a bar story (amongst engineering-folk) later.

    God I hate lightning....

BTW, one other casualty... my gate opener controller. It is not connected to AC, as it runs off of a battery/charger. Transient could have entered through the long ethernet cable I run back to the barn to operate a dry contact relay (home automation controller) to toggle the gate remotely...

    God I hate lightning....

Yes, the barn, woodshed and house are all fed from the same bonded ground at the service entrance of the house. No other ground provided to prevent a ground loop. As for lightning strikes, I've never actually had one that left physical damage to anything on my property. I had a camera on a...

    God I hate lightning....

No, I'm on 52 acres. The only utility service is for power, and it's 7.2kV, 3' under ground until the pad mounted transformer - which is about 75' from my home. None of my data lines rune parallel to the main feed. What's crazy is when I lived in the Tampa area (known as the lightning...

    God I hate lightning....

I have all of that already. Every switch is on an APC UPS. I have a whole panel surge protector. I think the spike was induced between the main panel and the woodshed (at least for the damage there). The router that was powered by that cell phone charger was fine. But the switch in the...

    God I hate lightning....

I think it was a combination. I did have one 20a breaker in my woodshed that was tripped. And a cellphone charger that was on that circuit was fried (smelled too). But no other damage to the limited things that were in the shed and plugged in. The fiber isolating boxes run on tiny 5V 1A...

    God I hate lightning....

Around 60 yes. Fortunately they seem to survive these close strikes. Won't know for sure until new hardware arrives later this week. When the high-port switches first became affordable I loaded up on a few of the 24 ports. With each storm, I'd lose a few ports here and there (never any...

    God I hate lightning....

Had a nearby strike that took out 11 switches and fiber-to-ethernet adapters. At least that's what I counted so far. The problem is that all of the distant ethernet runs have no power - so I have to use ethernet (vs fiber) to have power at the cameras. Some runs are approaching 500' long...

Anyone seen the IP4M-S2112EW-AI Amcrest/Dahua camera in the wild?

For the $200USD price, that's not bad at all. Unfortunately I have no external (white) lighting at my intended location, so still unsure about whether the IR based night image quality would be a disqualifier. Your image is definitely a good data point, though.

Thanks for the update. Any word on the picture quality? Especially at night?

Is there a way to make certain cameras private?

YES! That's what I was looking for. That functionality has changed a couple of times and It's been a while since I last used it - so I'd forgotten all about. Thank you. I have about 10 groups now... so the organization is good, but I didn't have a single group with everything but private...

Is there a way to make certain cameras private?

[sheepishly] yes. And the hard limit of 64 is real.

Is there a way to make certain cameras private?

That's what I was hoping to avoid. For now I'm giving them limited access to existing groups. No real need for all but the private ones, other than curiosity to see what the easiest way is to accomplish the goal. It'd be nice to have a "all cameras except these" option.

Is there a way to make certain cameras private?

My kids are getting to the age where they have figured out how to get their tablets to the LAN IP and are/were logging in w/o credentials since I had disabled LAN authentication. I've changed that, and created them their own user accounts. It's been a while since I created new groups, but...

SD59225U factory resets with power failure...

24V? Ugh. I didn't realize that. Yes, everything is solid copper. zero CCA in my system anywhere.

SD59225U factory resets with power failure...

Not yet. I have several of the PoE+ to 12V/2A splitters with barrel plug that I can use at the current installation location if it turns out that solves the problem. I've used those to power other cameras that took lightning damage to the internal PoE modules (where they work fine on a wall...

SD59225U factory resets with power failure...

I've had this camera for many years. Recently it's been rebooting randomly on a pretty frequent basis - sometimes in as little as 2 minutes. While reboots are not unusual (it's always done every once and a while), the loss of time, presets, and any other configuration variables is new. I've...

Integrating Blue Iris, Pushover, Node-RED, and Amazon Rekognition

I am using the HTTP REQUEST node to GET URL http://BISERVER/admin?camera=a248&trigger. When I put that URL in a browser, it triggers just fine. And it USED to work fine as a node in HASSIO. But sometime this month, it no longer worked. Instead, I'm getting a debug payload: And it...

Anyone seen the IP4M-S2112EW-AI Amcrest/Dahua camera in the wild?

I'll take what I can get :) I actually ordered it when it was released, but then got cold feet. I probably will end up buying if the reports continue to come in positive.

Curious how your night performance is. Can you send a couple of captures?

It showed $219 when I looked at it, but there's a 10% off coupon... that's what gets it down to the advertised price.

Anyone seen the IP4M-S2112EW-AI Amcrest/Dahua camera in the wild?

Yeah, I really just need it to be able to ID people at my gate, and communicate with them. When UPS/FedEx send sub drivers who don't know the gate code (or who struggle reading the instructions on the gate), it'd be nice to give them verbal instructions... First world problems. I have plenty...

    Blue Iris UI3

Many months ago, I (and others) was experiencing green video for some reason. At the time, the workaround was to disable hardware acceleration - which I did. That is apparently a global setting on brave (that gets applied to all profiles). So switching profiles, using private tabs, etc...

    Blue Iris UI3

Yes, that does seem like a bit of a conundrum. Short of being able to force a static arrangement of cameras in a group, whereby the last row of cameras is above the toolbar controls, I can't see of a one-size fits all solution. I thought maybe a different gesture could bring up the hidden...

    Blue Iris UI3

That would be just like the BI app. It, too, won't let you swipe left/right to get to next camera/group unless fully zoomed out. I'd take that as an option if you're willing to make it available.
